Title: Whats a sweet striper setup ?
Post by: fishon42 on May 10, 2010, 06:29:07 PM
I am a spinning reel lover, and enjoy using ugly sticks. What is a sweet reel/rod combo that I can get for lets say 150 bucks ? If thats even possible ? And what pound test would you use for stripers while fishing off a boat? 20-24 pound ? I'm lost with striper fishing, especially off a boat.

A 7' Ugly Stik rated for 12-25lb (BWS1100 I think) and a Shimano Soccoro loaded with 20lb mono should do fine and come in at you price point.

How about a 10-25 lb medium heavy action, 6 foot 6 rod ?

Then ill go out and buy that reel in about 30 minutes.... Will that work ?
