Just wondering what is hot and what is not out there
-
What ever you use and I like the swimming mullet, I would set it up this way. Using a bucktail tipped with a swimming mullet and about 12 to 18" above tie a dropper loop and put on a #2 hook and again another swimming mullet. It works pretty good for what ever reason.
Happy Catching

Yes. You are correct. I thought you were talking about the Powerbait grub. The 6" Gulp Power Grub is a good one when you want a large presentation. I used them a couple of times last year. Expensive though. BTW ;D

I caught more fish on the 4" swimming mullet, but better quality fish on the penny shrimp.

Not the case.
I used the 4" New Penny shrimp in the bay last Fri.I missed a big fish that spit the hook half way up !
I will continue using them but I have caught some nice fish on the 6" Gulp Grubs in Pink Shine,White / Glo.
Nick rig the Gulp 6" just like I showed you before.
You know me I keep it simple ;)

Try these 2 ways see what works best.
Fish the Grub like the shrimp or use the 6" Gulp as a teaser with the Bucktail with a Strip bait

7in. jerk shads & 5in. squids in various colors are my favorites, I also caught many fluke with everthing listed above.
-
Last Sun when we fished the ocean I starting using the 6" Gulp grubs in Pink Shine & White Glo.For some reason the Fluke were not interested.
I switched over to the 4" Gulp New Penny shrimp and the Fluke were all over them like Flies on S$$T !

That is why I carry a 5 gallon bucket with all sorts of styles. There is no rhyme nor reason to why they bite what has worked before. Maybe it is as simple as it is something different with a odor they are use to.
-
if I'm not mistaken, don't all the Gulp Alive baits come in the same mixture. This is what I heard....
-
those 6 in jerk shads in nuclear chicken are hard to beat !!!!
-
Voted for the 6" grub in nuclear chicken color. After this week in the kayak those big grubs are the way to go. Big baits = big fish. Also the 4" shrimp in new penny color have been very good for me on the better sized fish. ;D
-
all i know is... i cant catch squat with shrimp!
-
4" new penny shrimp is best fished for me 18" above my jig on a dropper loop with 3/0 0r 4/0 hook. Avoid those English hooks. I use a j hook or freshwater worm hook, the action of the bait is better. I never use traditional fluke rigs with long leaders any more unless strictly bait fishing. Some guys prefer hi/lo rigs with a sinker. Line test matters ... no more than 20# for inside the bays/rivers or use flurcarbon when fish are biting light. Hope this helps ;D

Yup. They are all the same flavor, just different shapes. And no, I didn't taste them. ;D
