i just knew it was to good to be true, that the new reels where as good as the old ones. talking about the new graphite reels
brought moms reel home the other night for maintnence, and found the nut under the spool holding the thingymagigy together loose. tightened it up and good to go.
today the same nut on steppops reel came loose enough to bind the reel up.
i own plenty of these reels in thier older models and never had any problems what-so-ever. and a couple of them have to be hitting 7,8 years old. these reels that failed in the past 2days are not more than 2years old >:(
so in conclusion no more penn ss reels for me, unless they are used and the older models.

As with anything else. The things they make today don't hold up nearly as well as things from the past. Gotta make em cheaper so they can make more of a profit.

I stopped buying Penn reels a LONG time ago.

I use the Penn SS series, and your correct, the older models are way better... and cheaper.
