Title: Crocs- A boating Home run
Post by: mboy on July 13, 2007, 08:00:43 PM
Ok, so they make you look like you lead an alternative lifestyl, but my wife picked me up a pair of Cayman crocks (Navy Blue to lok more masculine) and I wore them for 1st time on boat today.

They are GREAT.

Just trust me and try them.

I said I was only going to wear them on the boat and put sneakers back on when I got to dock. Wore'm all the way home ;0

LOVE THEM.

Cushiony during a cjop, don't care if they get wet while wearing them!

I will def be getting another pair (style) for sure soon. t^

Which style Crocs did you get?

The 'clog' style or the slightly more manly looking 'topsider' style.

I picked up a pair of the topsider style in May and they are great. Feet feel comfortable all day  t^.

BTW, I also picked up a pair of the Crocs flip-flops. Also another smart investment  :)

They seem to 'hold' the deck very well.

Yep, give nice cushion when standing and running the boat and can get them wet without thinking twice while wearing them.

Crocs do look stupid but the feel great on your feet. I bought a pair of nockoffs at Target for $8.99 and the feel no different than the real pair I bought at Dicks for $29.99. I will be buying another pair at Target soon. Great for the boat.

that they may joe,, but i to picked up a pair and i must admit, i havent wore my sneakers in a month. they are so comfy it aint even funny, and surely overrides the sunspots on the tops of your feet. plus it wont matter cause you'll have them baby's on anyways.

but if your really concerned about it, you can get charms (not lucky charms)that fit into the holes,, just get enough to fill them all in.

They do give you a polkadot suntan :-X

They are super comfortable.  Mates on a few boats from NY and NJ have been wearing them for awhile.

The soles do wear out after awhile and become smooth which causes them to become a bit slick on wet decks.

I have a black pair that I wear around the house.  So comfortable a few times I've left the house forgetting they were on hhppy

T has a Mary Jane pink pair that she wears while fishing.  I see Dick's had a sale on them this week and she was looking at the flipflop style.

I hate flip flops.

The ones at Dick's where some new women's style I think.

Mine are knockoffs, but got them for free so around the house they're fine.  On the boat...I keep thinking a sea robin is going to spike me or something. rofla

They maybe great.....but did you see where they were made???  Thanks to China and India they're helping drive up these oil prices.  They use more oil, less labor and we as a society continue to support them?  But they're comfortable, right?

Yes.

So everything you own, buy comes from the US right?

I try and support US gods when possible. But it is NOT possible to purchase everything made in the US.

DO you understand how economics works?

Without those cheap goods from China, Taiwan, etc, the standard of living in THIS country would be FAAAAR lower then it is today.
Again, I am VERY VERY VERY pro US and Anti almost every other country in the world, but understand what you are talking about before trying to debate.

Does it suck that most goods are made overseas? YEs.
Does it suck that those countries use mroe oil? Yes (but that is not why oil is 2xs what it was last year)
Is our Standard of living GREATLY increased by cheaper goods manufactured in other countries? BIGTIME!

I certainly understand economics and know what I'm talking about!  I'm clearly stating a fact of where they are made!  Anyone can buy their products where they choose!  It just hits home a little more when people look at the tags and understand where items come from!  Of course I own things that were made and manufactured overseas.  I do my best to support U.S. companies that keep their business here!  Our import / export ratios suck!  It up to us as U.S. citizens to police this!  Why is Hersey going to Mexico?  Why does U.S. lumber get shipped overseas, manufactured and sent back here to be sold as furniture.  Why are the Koreans rioting over the import of U.S. beef.  Why is Toyota going to surpass GM?  Why was Budweiser going to sell to a foreign company?  I guess a better question is... what can we buy that is made in the U.S.???  It's time that we rely a little more on our own productivity  and manufacturing.  Oil is a perfect example!!!  Again, I'm not condemning anyone for buying a pair of silly little shoes made in China, just pointing out where they came from!

I hear ya.

Toyota will surpass GM because they make better cars and their union hasn't choked them as an organization like US carmakers have.
I don't think Budweiser is selling to the foreging Co.
Hershey is going south because it is cheaper for them. If they used american, labor (unionized or not), the cost of the goods would be prohibitive to buy by many Americans.

What REALLY needs to happen is that imported goods need to be taxed (at import) at the same rate or goods are taxed when imported into that manufacturing nation (china, India, etc).

Our problem is too many countries tax our exported goods cominginto them making it prohibitive for their population to buy.

Our BEST export, which is far better then almost everyone else on a macro level is our Military hardware.

We need to drill for our own oil here and not sell an ounce of it to ANYONE!
