How do you fish that area do you just work the grass with a lure in the shallows.

I have caught bass in that area casting bombers (yellow) and shads around the submerged jetty, drifting worms and sometimes clamming early in the season.   I have had better luck clamming west of the Oceanic Bridge.  I hope to be in the water in about 2 weeks.  I will let you know how I do.

Also go back up the Navesink and work the grass banks near McClees Creek, Blossom Cove etc, have plugged up Bass to 30 lbs in the shallows chasing bait.

Starting around the end of April (but more likely the week of Mother's Day) you'll have good topwater action with bluefish around the Oceanic Bridge (also with metal and soft plastics). Drifting worms will also produce weakfish. Bass are possibility early and late in the day. Fluke will be found by mid May. Should also be some winter flounder around.
