Title: Fishguts 6/20 seabass limits
Post by: Capt. Birch on June 20, 2011, 05:45:48 PM
Yep it feels good to knock off our first seabass trip limit of the season ;D. Today it was Brian from STC Sports ,his bud Tom, and Pawleys Island Bob out for an all day wreck trip. I was not to sure what to make of the forcast as 20 out of the east did not sound fun. The wind never came, the ocean laid down, and the fish bit. We are finally starting to see good showings of quality fish on the inshore bottom. Not much bait showing today but plenty of fish on the hooks. Most seabass were in the 14" range with top fish a nice 19" 2.75 lber that Tom nailed. Bob got to enjoy a nice bonus today of a real good ling bite for our area, landing a dozen himself in addition to his 25 fish seabass limit. Not a wide open bite today but just a nice steady pick that had the guys close to a limit before noon. By days end they had  75 keeper seabass  and 17 ling in addition to releasing 4 short cod, a half dozen out of season blackfish to 5 lbs,a few sea ravens and plenty of short seabass. Good fisherman and a good bite can only make a captain smile. ;)
