Use a leader. I usually connect via barrel swivel, but you can also usa a uni or other not.

With a leader.
Mono or flouro provide a little stretch that you don't get with braid and are more abrasion resistant.

My set up for the surf is braided line tied to a quick clip of any brand.  I find it easier to switch out different fishing tackle fast.  I usually use a Uni knot for this as it keeps tension as it is being pulled.

To this I can clip on either a hi lo rigs or an fish finder rig made of mono.  I even use a bit on mono between my plugs and the clip simply for one reason and that is the braid can cut right through your skin with ease.  I feel safer grabbing onto the mono leader.  It does not have to be long just long enough to allow you to grab it instead of the braid.  The stretch factor won't come into play here because it is only a short length.

Happy Catching

Paul
