Left the dock this morning @ 5:am. With Bucktail Bob.. and 2 new members of the BBC... Kenny and Pauly. Was greeted to a semi confused head sea with 4-6 swells @ about 7 seconds... made for a pretty slow ride to the grounds trimmed down and getting about 17 Knots.. at best.
Arrived at the grounds to some slow pickins as the radio chatter was saying..
Moved around looking for life and marks for a couple hours.. with just a few bluefish.. as the day went on we locked onto a pretty good edge with life.. from there on.. it was Tuna Time!..
We went 6-7 for the day with our keeper fish going 48 inches. All other fish were released boat side. Hi hook goes to bucktail Bob. For his Superb Jigging skills. You needed to work these jigs the way they were meant to be used... or you were wasting your time.. Kenny picked it up well and also brought 2 fish boat side. Everyone fought a fish today t^
left them biting @ 2;30 Pm.. made great time home in a nice following sea t^
Some good times with good people.. I have some great video.. but right now I'm too tired to even think about it ;D
Bob's Fish.. 10 minutes in...

Kenny With a Smaller Tuna, He didn't know he was hooked, until he seen the boat, then listen to the sound the line makes on the water. I cut it up and added it 3 Times.

Just an awesome, amazing trip! Great weather, a bunch of whales playing around the boat and some nice BFTs on the jig! I had a great time, even though I came home a bloody mess! t^
The 150 gram pink/silver H4L Cyclone jig on my Star Plasma XH/Shimano Trinidad 40N with 65 lb Power Pro and 80 lb Shimano Wind-on leader was the ticket for me today. A few fish were also taken on silver PBJ Stingos.
It was a pleasure fishing with Pauly ("up, down, up, down, up, down") and Chatty Kenny. ;D
Carl, we missed you out there today. :-\
Thanks Capt. Joey G for the sardines. slt
Rod, did a terrific job of finding the fish today. clp He worked extremely hard watching the sonar and piloting the boat. He made sure we were on them today and really didn't have all that much time to wet a line himself today.
Thanks brother for the fantastic day! chrz
And yes. I did have a banana on board today. (See pic 4) ;)

Yea. I'm no pro. Just a lot of learning from great captains like Capt Rick K and Capt Joe G. Great guys that are willing to teach. Spent some time the other night with Capt Rich going over rigging... And the reason we only lost one fish. We couldn't even lose a Bluefish. I am very thankful to those that have helped me learn this type of fishing. t^
-
Nice job guys. I had a good feeling that you would do well on this one.
clp Great stuff!

Ok.....I'm back....Friday I was fortunate enough to be invited on this incredible bluefin trip ;D
Reason for the late posting on my part is I had a Monger Fluke trip today....Back to back trips with the first being offshore then a full day on the Monger...6hrs of sleep in the last 3 days not to mention 350 miles of driving thud
Little sporty on the way out as was mentioned but Rod dialed in the proper rpms making for a rather smooth ride out I thought....
Got out to the grounds and the chit chat on the radio didn't sound too promising so Rod decided to get away from the fleet and go into the hunt mode on our own and find some tunas, we bounced around on some small ridges and contours jigging on any marks we found and pretty much had action the whole trip.
You couldn't have asked for a better day on the water ( Rod you nailed the forcast buddy t^) laid down real nice from the morning making for a smooth fast ride back in...Rod even let Bob drive the boat for half the ride in cfzd....
OK Funny story time....
I must have had way too much coffee plus I know I was syked to be going on this trip....on the way out for the first hour I don't think I stopped talking and telling old fishing war stories to Paule...poor guy couldn't get a word in edge wise ( Sorry bro )....I think the guys thought I would be like this for the whole day smk...Rod playfully chimed in from the wheel house....do you ever stop talking??? Hence the chatty Kenny in Bobs post...I definitely earned that nickname...gota feeling it's gona stick too ;D It's all good!!! t^
Bob thanks for all your hard work with the tackle, rigging and jigging leasons......awesome job t^
Paule....what can I say, always great to be on the water with you and next trip I promise you get to talk for the first hour rofla and remember....up down...up down... you'll get it down on the next trip for sure bro t^
Rod...Incredible day! Can't thank you enough for the invite and all the hard work you put in to make this trip a success...Super job on the videos too clp
-
rofla.. Your a fun guy to fish with Kenny. and your Great Jigging abilities.. will get you on more trips.. t^ now that we got that "Talking Thing" straighten out ;D

Wouldn't want to fish on a boat that didn't have ball busting....That's 1/2 the fun of fishing... ;D

What you said in this reoport for sure Bob. t^
It was a beautiful day out for sure with some awesome and amazing sites ( never saw a whale before let alone those huge water spouts) and most of all the great fishing.
Rod did an awesome job of finding marks and keeping us on the bite zone yesterday along with a comfy ride. slt
Landed my first BFT; thanks for the hand off Bob.
Had a blast fishing with you guys. slt
My education for the day:
1. The Phyllis Ann is an awesome comfy ride.
2. Hotrod can find the fish.
3. Tuna does not only come in a can.
4. Bucktail Bob is the king of Jigging.
5. Learn how to jig or cut bait.
6. Better have your coffee before 3AM as Kenny will keep you awake. rofla
Some pics to follow as soon as I can figure it out.
