Post by: NJ Guy on August 09, 2011, 08:54:03 PM
Whats your go to knot

Mines the trilene knot but i do it a little different instead of using one loop in the beginning i use 2 extremely strong knot and is very easy to tie especially when trying to get another line in the water

Depends on the type of line, the line's diameter and what I am connecting with the knot.

I'll help you out bob with line an rig. i use 65lb power pro and then i use a fish finder rig. the leader is 200lb wire with a 200lb swivel an a 10/0 circle hook. this is for sharking btw! what knot should i tie for this setup an y? t^

Bimini Twist in the braid (30+ twists). Tie in your barrel swivel to the braid with Offshore Barrel Knot.

I would consider using a mono shock leader crimped to barrel swivel and another barrel swivel crimped at end of the mono.

Than Haywire Twist your wire leader to the mono barrel.

thanks phil.. so what your saying it i should have another mono shock leader after the wire leader? and if thats right how long should i make it cause length is an issue with your rigs and wieghts when u casting from the beach even with an 11ft pole. 5hrug

Sorry, I forgot about this post. ::)

As for your question Ed, I don't fish for sharks, so I never rigged for them.  What Phil said sounds write on the money to me. t^

I use the Palomar knot 90% of the time.  I think it is because of the time I spent freshwater bass fishing.  Other than that I use the braid knot.

Line to hardware- Double loop improved clinch

End Loop- Surgeon's end loop

Regular loop- Dropper loop

Line to line- Blood knot
