I spoke with Admin from my marina. "We" Him, Greg and I are many that are staying in the water.
The 3 of us are next to each other and 'Sheltered" behind the house. He will be ridding out the storm there and I will be in touch with him throughout..
A few miles North Capt. John is ridding out the storm in Forked river..
A few more miles North. Tony "Maja" is also riding out the storm there. all... 100 yards from the bay.
Worst Part of the storm is about 8:am. High Tide is 10:30 ish...

Nuttin' doin in Edison...I power washed the bottom of Ya Sista's A$$, had some rumple minze, cleaned the driveway drains out of leaves, another shot, tied down the hot tub cover, gargle and rinse again, fed the boys, opened a new bottle, man I am getting a lot of stuff done!
gonna hop on the downhill bike and pedal down to the river to see what's up. after another shot... I have the freshest breath in Edison.
-
These pictures are from the belford seafood coop and where the ferrys dock. They are of the raritain bay the navy pier is in the back ground.
We are at low tide and its lower then usual.
This should make for an intresting evening.
Good luck to you guys riding out the storm. chrz

We have some good shots of heavy rain, on and off at this point and some wind along with it.
With the lagoon behind my house, the boats all hauled out, everything tied down and an evacuation order in progress, it looks like were hi tailing it to my mother-in laws in Holiday City. I'll be posting from there, I hope. I have my service truck with the genny on it and 15 gallons of gas for it if the power goes out.
Be safe everyone.
Capt.Matt

Sitting it out here in Elmwood Park, slight drizzle and calm right now. Spoke with my sister in Augusta GA. and all she got was heavy rains for a few hours.
-
Rain in Jackson.. No wind yet. Boat is staying in the water, in the lagoon, in Toms River. Tripple tied. My brothers pontoon boat is next to mine. That may take a beating since its very light. I will be back done in Toms River on Sunday night to check things out and get ready for a sunny week ahead.

All is well so far here. We have all we need here. Beer, Generator for the tv, and food, possibly other things. I hope everyone is safe out there including the ones who are down the shore or living close to the shore.

It's nuts right now!!! 9:30 pm and we just had tornado reports in Barnegat surf city and egg harbor. Tornado warning now. Don't let your guard down. It's going to be a long night. Good luck to everyone.
-
Be Safe John. Capt. John is right on Forked River
-
For now the tornado indicator is off the map but it could be up again till Irene passes.
-
There is a Tornado Watch till 5:00 AM though.
-
I'm in Manahawkin. That cell they were watching passed just to the south of me in the rotation. I felt it go by. Was getting hairy for a minute!
-
Just drove down to the coop and encountered heavy blinding rain winds about 30-35 mph it was shaking my truck! nosmly
There are small limbs in the road along with some debris.
Some roads are flooded and the power is still on! Couldnt take any pictures to dark...
The commercial boats are rocking and there is a little heavy through out the harbor area. fcp
The tide is on the down swing, clp but its a little higher then what we get :headscra:,The hurricane is supposed to hit here around 8 and high tide is about that time ???
-
For everybody still up and looking for something to do (cause let's face it folks, if you're in its path and the sh!t hits the fan, there's really nothing you can do) here's a little drinking game for you to play.
Tune into your favorite news station or the Weather Channel.
Every time someone says:
"ride it out" Drink once
"batten down the hatches" Drink once
"Hunker down" Double Bonus! Drink twice.
Continue playing until the power goes out, or you pass out. ;D
Have fun and good luck every one! t^
-
clp Nice Bob!

Are there some.. that will actually be sleeping through this?
-
If they are able to they obviously have been drinking heavily and passed out, which might not be a bad thing.
-
I'll sleep when she's gone! ^-^
-
Yea. I'll be up all night.. let the family sleep. and " Ride This Out" ;D
-
I can't sleep knowing that something could happen especially with tornadoes popping up. I was just checking the satellite image and it is moving quite fast it is almost up to Delaware right now.
I can't wait till it passes. Right now the rain slowed and the wind subsided for a while and just waiting for it to start up again.
-
If your up and can't sleep try listening to RadioReference.com. I am listening to it right now and it seems like there was a tornado on LBI.
-
Heavy rain and some sporadic wind up here in north bergen county.
I think the Ramapo Mountains take on and split the power of the wind. I hope. :P
Be safe guys.
This sucks rgmn rgmn
-
Up here in Chester... until about 15 minutes ago it was raining and blowing like a mo fo....seems to be just a break in the action....
Why couldn't this storm just hit Florida like it's supposed to 5hrug
-
As long as you've battenned down the hatches, I would suggest you just ride it out and hunker down.
Here's mud in your eye! chrz ;D
-
Holly S**t the nastsy wind gusts just started here. Made me run back inside with all the trees in my BY. nosmly
-
Hearing reports from the facebook page Jersey Shore Hurricane News (http://www.facebook.com/JerseyShoreHurricaneNews) that, in Lacey, there have been several downed trees and power lines, a couple of house fires and they've lost and regained power at least four times already.
So far, in Jackson, it has just been blustery and rainy, and the power has stayed on all night (knock wood). I have heard reports of a tornado touching down by Six Flags, but no reports of any damage from it.
Still hunkering down. chrz t^
-
I'm still here.. 4:am - 10 :am is when all the problems start near my boat and Camper..
here in Yardville.. just some good rain and some major wind gusts..
-
Be safe. That is correct I am listening to 101.5 and they are pretty much on target.

Yawn, I think I am going to bed. The hurricane is off the coast of Atlantic City and getting ready to pass us. The winds as still high but not high enough I guess to cause any personal damages to my family (I hope).
For the rest of the day be safe and I will check in later this morning.

Slept through most of last night. I have a large tree down in the back of my yard and lots of downed branches. It's odd because the treetops have been swaying like hell, but you can't really feel any wind at ground level. Basement is also beginning to flood.
-
Settled down a lot in the past hour. Light rain and wind has died down. Lost power a few times during the night but came right back on. Hope to get down to check on the boat after 12:00.
-
No Damage here.. Frank.. are you near sherer's Can you peek in and give me a look.. when you pull in i'm the first boat behind the house.
Tho I did just get an "ALL GOOD" from Adam!!!! clp clp
I also had my web cam up in the camper in Barnegat. left the lights on.. never lost power and everything looks ok t^
-
Everything here is better than expected. Just a few minutes ago I was standing outside, and I heard a tree snapping and falling. We couldn't find it, but we sure heard it. Some apartments are flooded, ponds are flowing into the street. I have a feeling my work is underwater. It just so happens to be right next to a lake. Haven't lost power at all.

calm in Jackson now. I have an ashtray on my picnic table that didn't even blow away.
-
Hauled the boat on Friday and it is high and dry, headed north for a week vacation in the Finger Lakes. Report from Watkins Glen, heavy rain and it is blowing a steady 20mph. I am very happy we decided not to camp!

I think Rod and many others are giving thanks right now. Wow, what a night. Stayed up all night till about 6:30 this morning and then crashed.
Wow are still getting wind gusts up to 40mph but the power is still on and we never lost it all night.
Now the clean up begins.

No problem Rod!!
-
With about a dozen people dead, I wouldn't exactly say it was more bark than bite. But I know what you mean. The shore definitely escaped with less damage than many were predicting. t^
Nice pics Frank. Glad to see all the boats still afloat. clp
Most of all, I'm happy to see the deck chairs made it through! rofla

Yea. it wasn't just me worried. I see the whole BBC was concerned t^ Full tank.. let go t^

Few limbs and trees down in Bridgewater. Lots of water. Power stayed on for me. Thankfully, not too bad considering what was predicted.
-
Few trees and tons of leaves down here in Clifton. Inch of water in the basement, just open the drain and out it goes.
My GF in Blairstown is not so lucky. She has about 3-4 feet of water in her street and the water is still rising there. She is 50 yrds or so away from the Paulinskill River so when it floods the whole town floods.. They are also worried about the dam in town breaking too.. we'll see!
Glad everyone is ok!
Steve

Hello every one! Well it seems irene didnt like my area to much we had roads flooded up to 7 feet! deep. we had many many trees fall and snap wires in half.....Numours wires are broken we dont have power and i heard its the sub station that got flooded....it takes weeks to fix that...we were told no power for at least a week..
My neighbors house was hit with a huge tree and tree limbs fell every where. there are no lights along hwy 36. and stores are open but no power in my area altho there are stores close that do have power.
We had a massive amount of rain that over whelmed the sewer systems.
We will be sticking it out for as long as needed...we have a grill to cook on,a cooler full of drinks and some food.
Im at the library now and i cant post pictures but i do have them and aS soon as i can ill post them. chrz
Any way be safe my friends and always remember it could of been WAY worse.
Till next time your friend,
Offshore Madnees

Hang in there OM! t^

Renegade made it through okay along with all others in Bob's Bay Marina except for a some damage to canvas left on. We chose to strip her naked.
-
The heavy rain on Sat and Sun AM has a small river running through my basement and out through the garage into the driveway.
Not unusual for this much rain.
But the wind yesterday on the back end of this storm kicked our ass all day. Lucky no trees down just alot of branches and leaves.
But the power went out at 4 pm and is still out. rgmn
-
Hi guys I haven't had a chance to go throught this entire thread. We just got power back around 1 pm today the 29th been without since Sat at 10 pm. I have some pics to add of Shark River taken on Sunday. Hope everyone is doing OK
-
8.16" of rain here in Jefferson. Lost power at 5am switched to gen power till 5pm when it came back on. Spent the whole night in the basement picking up water, but saved everything. All of the neighbors who spent the night sleeping lost everything in the basement.
-
Hard work Rick, but it did pay off. t^
-
Wow Rick. who the hell could sleep that night fcp
Phyllis Ann and Reeltime.. all cleaned up today. thanks to Greg t^
Thank You Greg t^

Here are some shots of Shark River the Back bay These were all taken Sunday Morning near where Joey G Slips his Boat. Also caught this Ole Salt coming across the bay in his work boat maybe he was out checking his traps fcp Then one out fromt of the RT 35 bridge. I also have a couple shots of the Delaware down the road from my house, this is under Rt 1. The Big D is busy with a lot of landscaping going on reaaranging trees from up river cfzd
-
Oh forgot a couple pics of my boat all comfy in her slip TT^
-
Skip, a lot of the boats used the transient slips at the municipal marina to weather out the storm. The comm guy was probably there and was moving his boat back to his slip when you saw him. I saw a lot of the comms and charter boats that dock across from my marina tied up in the municipal marina Sunday. I guess they felt better secured there. First time I saw boats at the transient slips there.
Good to see you made out good with the storm. t^
-
Hello again ..no i dont have power and i wont for a week or longer i am at my buddys house right now. Here is my experiance inside the storm.
Saturday at 11 pm power went out.The winds were inspeakable and the rain was intense, gallons a minute.Trees and power lines are down all over the place. The water rose and keep coming nothing was stopping it Nothing!!!
Around 3 am the tree next door came crashing down upon their house damage was severe inside with the rain. The transformer exploded next 2 our house and sent sparks all over.
around 5 am a gust blew through the "hood" and destroyed it with trees and limbs falling all over.
The picture of the boat is at my buddys mom house the boat was 4 houses down.
Well we wont have power for a week im living Amish kinda a slap of reality but were good got what we need to live.
Ever enough will be fishing the ocean tomarrow the 30th we will be in our spot we normally fish..........
Hope you all escaped damange for the storm and are ready to fish......I will be on channel 65/16 give me a shout and ill let you know how im doing..
Peace out my fellow Capts. sea you out there.....

Here are more
-
Here in union beach we had some real good burst of wind with a steady blow. Luckily no tree damage on my street. The power flickerd a couple of times but never went out. The flood water came in the house not too much but definatley covered my entire bathroom. Could and should of been way worse but aside from minor damage made out ok. Funny side note is there's 8 houses on my street and I've done almost all the roofs on them besides my own and I'm the only one who lost shingles. Also saw that to sail boats from KYC washed up over to the sea wall in cliffwood. No way was the manatee staying on her mouring.
-
Hang in there OM! t^
Thank you chrz
-
Went to bed about 2:45am and right after the power went out. Woke up about 7 and hooked up the genny, but had no cable or internet. Winds were worse on the backside of the storm. With power back on about 2pm and the Parkway re-opened, we headed back to Little Egg. No damage at all to our property and water never made it even close to the bulkhead.
Was at the marina yesterday and with a bunch of branches and a few limbs down, no damage to my office or sheds. ;) ;) Let's get the boats back in clp clp
-
Sorry to see you guys with such a mess down there.. but thankful losses are limited to property and everyone is safe.. We personally came thru without a hitch..no power loss.. with the house being in a hollow surrounded by hardwood ridges, and built on the highest point of the lot, we are normally spared flooding issues.. but lots of flood damage locally.. some towns to the west along the Esopus and other trout streams where virtually wiped out.. nosmly They pulled my boat out Friday, but I have yet to be able to talk to anyone at Lentze's to get a full report.. but they put up a voice message that all the boats survived, and after some dock repairs they should start re-launches tomorrow.. I'm figuring that the floodgate spared the marina any bad flooding..although it would'nt stop the creek itself from rising behind it.. I've been wanting to get down and see whats up , but with all the reports of flooding/ damage along 36 I figure it was best to wait.. I'm going to try to get down in the next day or 2.. if anyone has been in Keansburg since the storm that could give me a status report, I'd greatly appreciate it.. Best of luck to everyone on the clean-up and recovery from this biiiotch of a storm. chrz

Just got my power back on here in Toms River(West Dover Section). Lost power at 9P on Saturday 8/27 and it just went on about 10:30A...132+ hours!
All things considered, the storm wasn't that bad for us. Some gusty winds, not too much rain, a few tornado warnings. There were/are a lot of trees down in the neighborhood which took down wires and a couple of poles, some fences and outdoor furniture, but no major damage!

I looked at it as down time.We also cooked on the grill..and yes we could of had it way worse..Glad 2 hear ur powers on
-
Question if you have solar power and an outage occurs will you still have power?? Just some food for thought.
-
Yes. t^
-
My wife and I left for vacation Saturday before the storm hit and returned this Saturday night. I have a large tree limb hanging by a thread in the back yard and some minor water damage in the basement. My plan was to re-launch and get set back up in my slip in River Plaza Marina. Not to be, it seems that the Swimming River Reservoir overflowed during the storm and the rush of water took out most of floating docks and poles. Looks like I will have to keep the boat on the trailer and use the ramp. I could use the practice ;).
-
Good for you Scott. Bet it was a welcome relief. t^
Yes it was...Burned 30 gallons of gas keeping the generator going...and i know there are people out their that have it a lot worse.
