Title: Where to launch at Manasquan?
Post by: lefteye on August 02, 2007, 10:18:38 PM
I am looking for a decent ramp to launch at to go out of Mansquan Inlet. I have 17 foot Whaler that I take to the Great Bay and the Raritan, but I would like to try some different areas.
Any suggestions?

What areas are you interested in fishing if you go out of Manasquan Inlet?  I don't know anything about Manasquan ramps but Shark River Inlet is only 6 miles further north than Manasquan.  There are several ramps there.  Bry's has a ramp (Joey G uses this ramp) that is about one mile from the ocean.  It is an easy ride out the inlet too.

Where will you be driving from?  If you take I-195 Shark River would be ideal for you.

At the south end of Bay Avenue in Bay Head there is a public ramp that puts you in the water at the southern end of the Manasquan Canal.  You can access Bay Ave off of Bridge Avenue.  Be careful in the canal the tide really rips through there.

Hi All,

Mike is right but if you hug the walls the current is usually not too bad there and the only place thats still bad is around the bridges.  The bad time is when you have weekend boaters all over the place.

Happy Catching

Hi All,

There is a better free ramp and parking area that puts you right in the middle of the canal, and it has little or no current.

Right next to the State Trooper building. It is by the Lovelandtown bridge. Same directions that Mate Mike said above but you do not go over the bridge if coming from the west.

If you want better directions, I will figure something out.

Also, many marinas offer ramps but the times are not good, unless you make arrangements.

If you get directiosn to the Marine State Police on the canal via Mapquest, it is right next store (area adjacent and south).

The phone number of the station is:

Point Pleasant Station (732)899-5050

They will be able to help you with any/all ramps in this area, including on the Manasquan River.

Good luck,

Capt. Ed

Thanks to all for the input. I wanted to try Manasquan and learn the area, including the river. Belmar is next on the list.

The place that Catfish hunter refered to is called the Manasquan Marine Center
           Brielle Road
           732-223-4277

     Concrete ramp
     Fee per launch
     Rest rooms

As he said, it's right next to the small drawbridge on Brielle Rd.  Close to the inlet & it's in sheltered waters so there are hardly any wakes to contend with.
