Title: 9/11 Yellowfin Jigging Beatdown
Post by: Capt. Rich K on September 13, 2011, 09:26:06 AM
Had John F,Jimmy and Ray out to the Canyon with a sloppy ride out we found great water 6 miles short of our spot, started to set the trolling spread 1 1/2 miles short and got 3 lines in and fish on but to drop it at the boat circle around and picked up a small yellowfin and few more knocks downs then we set up on the chunk.with in 30 min of we had had fish on a sardine and the sounder lit up so in went the jigs non-stop for 2 hours John even got one on a popper, slowed down for a little then around 4 am it was crazy till light. We put 12 yellowfin in the box the biggest was about 40lbs.and released at least 30 plus for the night. We were in the Carteret with 76 degree clean water.I was jigging 200 gram stingos.NEVER FORGET

Nice Rich,

But you know who, (Bottom Dweller) said they were ONLY 40 pounders!

I told him MAYBE, even he could have reeled one in.

I also cussed him for not going and not offering his spot up.
I'd would of played hooky!

Hope we  get out soon

Captain Rich,
Congrats on a great trip. We fished from the toms to just south if the south toms that night, in the same 76deg water. Had bait all night, but never Got a good bite going.. we boxed 2 yft and 3 lft. The fish seemed to be staying deep, the jig bite we Had was 160'. We marked the eyeballs on the am troll a few times... stacked boomerangs, but at 300', never came higher After mĂșltiple passes.
Again Congrats on an awesome trip!
