Title: Questions always Asked - The 3 W's
Post by: kayak1 on September 14, 2011, 07:40:19 PM
It seems that I'm always being asked the same questions each year....And for the most part I do understand why....But I will be 100% honest when I tell you it's not magic or that I'm better then the next guy with fishing from a kayak.....

The back country of the bay is my play ground and has been for years....The kayak just gives me really a better way of fishing the area.....I do have a boat....But the kayak gives me the chance to fish areas that my boat can't get to.....Plus its easy.

Think about the size of the bay.... while driving over the Route 37 bridge look to the left and right...That's alot of water.

I can think back to my early days of kayak fishing....and how I only fished the inlets or close to the inlets because of the deep water cuts.....The funny thing is I never did all that great.

The real fishing is dead center away from the inlets...I'm still not sure why this is and for years this is my fishing play ground....Don't get me wrong I like ocean fishing to....But a 15-20 pound bass in the bay.....In 2-3 feet of water.....On a kayak.....That's not bad.

So........

When..... March - Mid May..... Then enjoy your summer and spend time at home or with the family because the bay is way to warm.....Then get back out from October - the end of December.

Where.....I think we just talked about that above.

What......Big bass

The last part of all of this is you must use just 2 plugs....The first is my all time go to lure....The yellow mambo minnow....Hands down the best bay lure sold today....The second is the school bus color mambo minnow.....Trust me on this DON'T TAKE ANY OTHER LURES WITH YOU......Just these 2....That's it.

Please be safe.....Always use a life vest.....We lost way to many in 2011 from not using a PFD....Most of all have fun.

Nice post Dave. t^

Definitely love the Mambo minnows, but with all the other lures out there, I'm just not ready to settle down and commit to just one bait right now.   ;D

The real crazy thing about the color YELLOW is that the chicken scratch will work the best in the upper parts of the bay.....

The school bus will work great in the lower half of the bay.....

Thanks everyone......<{{{{{{><

 whs

I fished along with dave a couple of times and he tells no lies. I did nothing more than put some time in and followed this advice and landed a 25# bass from shores of the bay a couple years back.
