Title: Quality porgy rigs?
Post by: bassnblues on September 29, 2011, 10:56:11 AM
I'm planning on hitting a headboat or porgys next week. Does anyone know where I can get some good quality hand tied porgy rigs? I know it's only porgys but I don't like those mass produced rigs with really heavy leader and want something better.

Are porgies really that picky?  I'm asking only because I haven't really targeted them specifically, but I have caught them on a regular 30 or 40 lb mono hi-lo rig.

I guess I'm pickier than the porgies...I guess I'll make my own. I usually make by own rigs but  the tripples look like a pain.

Light tackle porgy fishing is great fun. They will give you a good pull. Great table fare also.

We have never fishd for them before,so not sure, i guess we could use fluke poles, buy some prefab  rigs worms and give it a shot :headscra:

Never ate them either guess i could just snap some pictures keep a few and release the rest. t^

Looking to take my GF for a half day trip with some action. Porgy fishing is lots of fun and they make for a good fish fry!

The last time I targetted them was as a kid my dad took me to Long Island Sound (I think  :headscra:) and we filled a cooler with big pork chops!
