Title: Reel McCoy II Report 11/13
Post by: Reel McCoy on November 13, 2011, 03:40:27 PM
Wasn't sure if I was going to go out today but I decided to give it a try.  Getting a late start I left my slip at 9AM.  Trolled shads and a stretch between the channels getting only one hit.  Drifted eels in Ambrose and on the flats only to have six pickups which I assume were bluefish as only the eels heads were left.  Headed east towards Breezy Point where I tried to jig fish under some birds, no luck.  Next I tried an umbrella rig (small green tubes) and had a fish on before I could put the rod in the holder. This was the first of 6 24" inch fish I caught in about one hour.  I then put the rig plus a drail on a rod with braid and got 2 more slightly larger but still short. I then tried to find some fish that could be jigged.  Went a bit further east and found some birds and jigged that area for a few drifts. Nada. By this time the winds and the seas were picking up so I decide to head home.
