Title: IBSP 11-20-11
Post by: SurfJockey on November 21, 2011, 12:26:21 PM
Met up with 2 buddies Jeff and Greg on Sunday at the gates of IBSP, around 5am. Aired down, and entered the sand at A-7, we were greeted by a slight SW blow, and decent seas. Was still dark pulling on, but I spotted a decent sandbar, so we stopped, geared up and headed for the bar. It took a few attempts, but we managed to find a pathway to get us through the trough, that wasn't hat-deep water. Took a few casts to get things started, but I managed to break the ice for us and pulled one of the few "short" fish of the day. Greg quickly followed up with another bass. I came tight again, and then it was Jeff on. By this time, the sun was just starting to creep up and we were joined by another angler who walked on and was kind enough to ask if he could "share" our spot. Then another 4 guys walked on and after a few attempts, they found the pathway in. So there we were, 8 guys on the bar, hooking up left and right. We had a few back to back fish, and some doubles, triples, quads, and even 5 fish on at once for us with some doubleheaders included in the mix that really made for some good fighting. I boxed one that weighed in on Grumpy's scale @ 14 lbs. 35". Threw her in the cooler and came back to the water and landed what had to be my new personal best, but let her swim, as I didn't need to take 2 fish. Certainly an epic day for us all! It's not bad fishing close quarters with guys that actually know how to fish in close quarters. We then got mugged by a few clowns that started casting over us and getting a little too tight. We were even joined by ChrisL, who came in once the action died off a bit, who came out and second cast, BANG, FISH ON for CL. All in all, one of my best days on IBSP in my 3 years of fishing there. Great day with a great bunch of guys. A lot of fun was had out on the bar today. All fish were caught on T-Hex's, AVA's, and some on a few of Greg's and ChrisL's teasers. You know it's a good day, when you're soaked to the bone, and it doesn't even matter. I landed 8 fish for the day, all keepers except one. Numbers were probably the same for most of us out there.

Nothing like being on the beach and watching the sun come over the horizon. And a mess of fish to boot! Doesn't get much better than that. Good catching guys.  t^

Sunday was a lot of fun.  I got to Jay's spot late, but still managed to land 2 keepers, the bigger of which was pushing 20lbs.
