Title: GARMIN HOMEPORT Software
Post by: fellinger on January 06, 2012, 07:39:40 PM
I ran across GARMIN's HOMEPORT software for compatible GPS units. Is anyone using this software for making/saving waypoints, preplanning trips, etc?

Any info would be appreciated.

Fred

Thanks, Dennis. I guess I really need to call Garmin. I am confised if I need anything else with it. My unit came with a world basemap with the ability to load other chart "bluewater", I think. In reading the description for Homeport it says that it doesnt come with charts loaded but, somewhere else it says it has a world basemap  :headscra:

Hope all is ok with you and, IF I had some $ I would definitly consider taking the IKAT from you.

Frd --you need a card to format for Garmin--if you get the homeport on the card --little more $$ then you have it --BUT if you download -Homeport--you just buy a card--cheaper and format it on on you CPU

I added a detailed map and got Homeport. I love it so far! I have loaded all of my coordinates and some routes. I cannot wait to check it out this season.
