Title: got a new toy
Post by: Reel Time on January 24, 2012, 03:11:00 PM
 shimano 6000 bait runner.

compared it to the 8000 and the 4500, one felt to big, the other to small. then compared it to the penn live liner 4500, just didnt like the feel of it. so shimano it was.

paired onto my tsunami 7' medium/heavy seems like a good match.

the 6000 and up comes with the big power knob on it, we'll see how it is come game time. but in the house it feels pretty good.

if you look close, you'll see my new secrete, hockey tape on the reel seat knob. no more tightening it up as it works loose, and makes it more comfortable to hold with out those ridges rubbing on your wet hands all day. also put it on the arbor for direct powerpro attachment.

somehow i had my okuma bait runner last me for 7 years or so,,, don't know how i managed that, might be a new record,,,,, but anyways it started acting up pretty bad beginning of the year, so thought it was time for a replacement.

for anyone else shopping, the 8000 was basically the same size body, but a wee bit wider, and the spool was deeper. for 50lb pp, it held an extra 80 yards. i think it was.

this one should last me a decent time.

one thing i noticed after i got it home was theres a maintenance port, screw really, that you remove to put a couple drops of oil into it, instead of removing the whole side plate. super smooth, and the anti reverse cant be beat.

20lb max drag, 2lb live line max drag, and 210 yards 50lb pp

now im dying to try out out with some bunkers, come on spring
