Title: Mono Color?
Post by: fellinger on March 05, 2012, 03:02:44 PM
I ordered 50# mono to uses as leader for my braided line. Apparently I didnt pay attention to detail and it is the fluro yellow. Does this really make a difference fishing in NJ for bottom fish, stripers, fluke/flounder/etc?

Yellow light frequencies, which yellow colored things reflect, gets filtered out of the water column pretty fast.  I wouldn't worry about it for bottom fishing, or really any fishing unless the water is really crystal clear.

As said above, the water clarity is not too good around here. You might have problems offshore with Tuna or Mahi. Luckily mono is not too exspensive and would not hurt your wallet too much to replace.

What brand floro yellow? Some brands are brighter than others and ones description of "floro" can be different than someone else.

Bottom bouncing and fluking I would use it.....stripers not so much.
