I wanted to share this with everyone here. The University of Iowa has set up Twitter Accounts which immediately send notifications of any Weather Events, Advisories, Watches and Warnings. These are instantaneous and I have been receiving them before the NOAA Weather Alert Radios even activate. If you have unlimited texts on your cell phones, I highly recommend it. It is a great way to get the Weather Information you need, quickly!
The Twitter Accounts are called IEMBot's and are setup according to the various National Weather Service Weather Field Offices and Specialty Offices.
For NJ and most of bordering PA the twitter account is: https://twitter.com/#!/iembot_phi
This is the NYC Area account: https://twitter.com/#!/iembot_okx
The Storm Prediction Center: https://twitter.com/#!/iembot_spc
The National Hurricane Center: https://twitter.com/#!/iembot_spc
Simply follow the twitter accounts and set it to receive mobile notifications
You will also get any text product notification and updated weather forecasts as well. It can generate a good amount of text messages, but if you don't like them you can always shut them off.
If anyone needs any other locations, please ask. If anyone needs any help with Twitter, I can try ;D and help.
I have been using them for about 2 months and it is a great way to get the information you need!
