Hi Paul,
See the new Canons?
There is some info in the "News" at:
http://www.dpreview.com/
The G9 looks like a sweet little boat camera.
Thanks,
Ed

Hi Ed,
Thanks for the heads up on the Canon announcements.
I have to agree the G9 is a nice addition with its 12.1 MP and 6X optical lens with Image Stabilization is a nice package for roughly $500.00.
I was also looking at the 40D. I am not sold on their slight upgrades. If I am going to step up it would be to the 5D for one simple reason the image sensor is full size so there is no cropping in the lens. I think you have to multiply by a factor of 1.6 in the 30D and the 40D.
I do like the sensor cleaning mechanism they use to shake the dust off the filter in front of the sensor. Pretty cool.
Like I said the 5D would be my next still camera.
Thanks again for the heads up on the site.

canon has een the leading camera for aquarium photography but i'm still hooked on my sony mavicas. love how it burns the image to a 3.5" disc. I must have about 700 of the discs floating around...gonna take me years to go through them and properly file them lol

Hi Bob,
Sony Mavica was my first digital. I still have it some where. I used their memory sticks. Great camers so I thought till I bought my first Canon digital. I always used Canon the first was the AE-1 Program, then the EOS system came out and I had to have that than digital came around well you know the drill.
They all work fine but they all have their limitations.
I just posted this earliey on another post but here is a picture I took the other night with the Canon 20D and 800 mm lens.
Happy Catching

paul, amazing!!
my roomate has the the 20D and wants to sell it to me.
the thing is that I never take many pics of the fish collection anymore and sold all my green tree pythons so I really only use a camera on the boat nowadays. the mavica does a great job. ohh well...if the price is right I might grab it. ;D

Hi Bob,
The 20D body can be had for around $400 - 600 depending on the shape it is in. But on average with a zoom lens it should be around $650.

Hi Ed,
Did you read about the new, Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III? It now has 21.1 MP and a 45 point focusing system amazing.

Hi Bob,
it is defiantly something to think about. Mine is a work horse I had it cleaned right before the summer and It is like a new camera again.
With a few lenses you can do about anything the big boys do.
