Title: Abu C4 6600 or Record RCN50
Post by: FishermanMIKE on June 26, 2012, 08:00:44 PM
I recently sent back my old unfixable Abu Ultra Cast 5600 it was about 15 years old.. There CS has giving me the opportunity to replace it for a new reel of my choice for 45% off list price.. So I came down to the two above.. Which one is better? It will be mounted to a 7' Lami Inshore Classic Rod, which is used for both Stripers and Fluke... Any thoughts?

I haven't used a record, but I have a 6600C4 that I love for fluking..its very similar to the 6500's I've been using for years, but I like the thumb bar freespool on the 6600 for jigging.. and the infinite anti-reverse  on all the new models is another great improvement imo..  The Record seems about the same except for the levelwind synch. feature.. which I have not tried.. the other difference is 2 extra bearings.. which in most cases created a sturdier reel as they replace weaker bushings.. Being as you are in a position to get a great deal on a replacement, it may make sense to spring for the Record now, but either way I think you'll have a fine reel,,  t^   chrz
