Post by: Reel Time on July 18, 2012, 02:37:50 PM
Tackle Direct has these on sale for 19.99.

6'  30-80lb line, aluminum reel seats. Clicky Me (http://www.tackledirect.com/penn-sl3080su60-slammer-stand-up-rod.html)

Are they the best out there? Nope. Will they catch fish? Hells yea, and biggin's too. TT^

Got five rods for just under a hundred, can't beat that.  Now to work on three more reels to put on them thud

Wow! That's a cheap way to outfit a good little shark or trolling spread. I caught my mako on an Okuma reel and it did fine. I might pickup a couple of these to add to the collection for the few times per year I need them.

Would I ? Darn skippy, thats what i got'em for.

I wouldn't go chasing giant bft's with them, but for in/midshore they should be more than enough.

As I've said, they may not be the best rods out there, might not be the newest greatest compound composite construction going,,,,

but how many years have fisherman/woman been bringing in monster fish with fiberglass rods? More than a few.

Just got the tld 20 and 25 mounted and spooled up with fresh mamoi 50lb brilliant blue, and boy do they look sweet.

Being a 30-80lb line rod, I would take it as it can handle 1/4-1/3 that weight in drag forces. With 50lb line, I'm only going to 15lb's drag.

They may even be overkill, but they have a nice thick forgrip to latch onto for better rod control when fighting a fishy.

Ordered 2 yesterday while working. They just came in. Not bad at all for $20 each. I found 2, new Okuma Contura CR-603 on Ebay for $69 so, for less than $100/combo I have an ok rod for the little mid-shore trolling that I will be doing.
