(IF I double posted I aplogize)
Triple D (Dennis Sr, Dennis Jr, & Dennis III) went down to crab near the oceanic this morning around 9am. Put about a dozen in in the first hour and half or so. Made a move again around the bridge and placed a few more into the livewell. Nothing to write home about with the size and some literally just making the legal limit. IKAT weather service called in to inform of possible storms headed our way. ;) ;) ;) Apparentaly this is a free app on your mobile phone since i haven't gotten a bill for this service yet smk
Decided to play it safe and make the move back to the redbank bridge. fished two spots there and wound up putting a total of twenty in the boat in about four hours of crabbing for the day. Had a great time on the water (as usual) especially since the weather held.

Interesting. I always knew them as oyster crackers. I've never heard the sally growler name.

Sallygrowler is a older common Name given to them by Lobster Trapers . they are not fit to eat. Named for the sound they make grinding there lips. The area is has plenty of them caught manly in traps not on hook and line, Remember them at almost 3 Lbs years ago. And if they get your finger they will not give it back cfzd

They eat everything, so yeah he was in their for the meal.
Have eaten them after seeing/reading about it. I dont make a habit of it, but try everything once. Not bad at all.
Followed a recipe i found online along with a few pics.....

thanks for the info guys and gals. my son keeps asking me if I found out what it was, now I can tell him what he pulled up. And ya, he was making this awful clacking noise that honestly was starting to scare the bleep out of us :P it happened everytime he opened his mouth and "popped" it closed. it was wierd.
Was a wierd day...father also pulled in a spot off of a clam in about foot and half of water.
highlight of my day was my son telling me not to pull up the drop lines and that he wanted to try. the little bugger would get on his hands and knees and make sure to have the net next to him. he would then pull the line up gently and see if it tugged back...if it did he would get excited and start yelling that he thought he had one. in the last hour he probablly netted five or six all by himself..smalls and females but hey that is what it is all about, the enjoyment. t^
