Jersey Joe and I met at the marina in Keyport at noon after the rain had cleared. Low tide was coming at 12:30pm so we planned on going around Sandy Hook and fishing the incoming. The sea was flat as a lake. The sky was overecast with the sun trying to break through and the water temp was reading 67 deg. Four Bunker boats were working the mouth of the Raritan bay netting all the fish the Striped bass planned on eating in the weeks to come. fcp We snagged a few for strip bait.
I started drifting where we landed the doormat last week and the L-Ritchies were making a big appearence. Made a few more moves and a 4' Doggy comes up. A flock of small birds were working the area and we marked fish under them so we jigged different lures and nothing took them. \
We even trolled a bit here and there with no takers but a couple of paddle tail shads had the tails bit off. :P
The last shot at Fluke was near the navy pier and a nice 23" 4lb fish went into the net. It hit a green/white bucktail with Stripped Bunker as bait.
Good Luck, Eddie TT^
