Title: The Season is Here!
Post by: Bucktail on September 30, 2012, 09:59:02 PM
When I left work tonight there was a slight chill in the air.  The slight chill that signals the start of the best fishing time of the year!

Bluefish, stripers, blackfish, tuna, here we come!

Check out this link to a great song by The Coastal Cohorts.  It always makes me want to grab my gear and hit the water.  It was featured in a really fun show called "King Mackerel And The Blues Are Running:  Songs & Stories From The Carolina Coast".  Lyrics below the link.  t^

King Mackerel & The Blues Are Running (http://www.myspace.com/music/player?sid=20734999&ac=now)

Tide rolls in, tide rolls out
Summertime is just about gone
All that's left to think about
Is this fishing coming on

Who's got the latest information?
Coast Guard, or charter boat crews?
Could be the kid down at the filling station
Saying, "Buddy, have you heard the news?"
"Hey, buddy, have you heard the news?"

King Mackerel and the Blues are running
All along the coast
Talk about fishing
You can't give the fish away
Everybody's lucky
October and the moon is coming
But the clouds won't give up the ghost
Oh, let the good weather hold one more day

Radio announcer's voice:
"Here on the Outer Banks winds are currently from the northeast at 10 to 15 knots. Coast Guard's lifted yesterday's small craft warning from Cape Henry to Cape Fear. Seas are running 1 or 2 feet above normal, though, so stay tuned to the Weather Channel. Ocean temperature off Hatteras, Ocracoke and Core Banks averaging 68 degrees. Air temperature probably won't break a high of 60.  But it's a beautiful day all along the Carolina coast and, all reports are, the fishing is excellent.

King Mackerel and the Blues are running
All along the coast
Talk about fishing
You can't give the fish away
Everybody's lucky
October and the moon is coming
But the clouds won't give up the ghost
Oh, let the good weather hold one more day

Wake up! We're moving out!
Four-wheel drive will take us where we're going, yeah
If it don't, we're missing out
You wanna be there before dawn

But when the sun is finally setting
And there's sand in everybody's shoes, yeah
The cooler's full of fish
There ain't nobody fretting
No it's, "Hey, buddy, have you heard the news?"

King Mackerel and the Blues are running
All along the coast
Talk about fishing
You can't give the fish away
Everybody's lucky
October and the moon is coming
But the clouds won't give up the ghost
Oh, let the good weather hold one more day!

Bucktail yes good fishing is ahead come fall. But the Spring early summer run of BASS was the best ever Bay Beach and Coastal. The Blues did not disappoint, The Fluke fishing was better then expected. Crabbing was the best in years. a lot of southern fish caught. I do not do off shore but that to was and is doing well with Tuna in Close and the tournaments being a success this year with big catches. So here's hoping  when the Blues leave The Bass make a good showing in all areas Beach and Boat. Good luck and tight lines to all. Bill
And hunter Limit catches have been taken here and there. they are here and never left in many areas just not many targeting them till now, The best is yet to come I hope.  chrz slt
