Title: Little confused as to blackfish regs
Post by: dabeeza on October 06, 2012, 04:08:25 PM
I'm trying to find out the current fall blackfish regulations what I looked up shown:

15" size

November 15- December 31  6 fish.
January 1 - February 28         4 fish
April 1-April 30                     4 fish.

Is this the correct regs for Blackfish for at least the fall of 2012?

Thanks for any help

From the NJ DEP

Blackfish/tautag 15"

Open seasons:
4 fish Jan.1-Feb.28
4 fish Apr.1-Apr.30
1 fish Jul.17-Nov.15
6 fish Nov.16-Dec.31

The 'real' season starts Nov 16, not the 15th. You can keep 1 fish per man now until the 16th of November, it then goes up to 6 fish per man.

The midyear change has caused a lot of confusion.

By the time our bag limit increases to 6 fish, some of those NY boats have had a 6 week head start on us Tog fishing NJ waters.  :'(

Sounds like a trip out of Brooklyn or SI may be tempting this year. Never done before.
