Title: Gas Info
Post by: johnniegoldfish on November 05, 2012, 09:29:27 AM
Hi,

This is a bit off topic, but in these crazy days please take no offense.
I am usually just a reader on here as I live in Vermont, but frequent the NJ Shore as much as possible.

My friends on LBI and relatives in Mystic Island suffered major damage and I am coming in on Friday eve to assist them however.

Does anyone know of gas availabilty on RTE 17 between the NY Thruway and the NJ Parkway, and also on RTE 72, Barnegat/ Manahawkin area?

Johnnie

I'm not from that area, but I will say the fuel lines were definitely shorter today than I've seen in a while.

I can't help you with that area but kudos to you for coming down and helping your friends and relatives in their time of need.

A side note for you and others. The further west you go from the shore area the more access you will have to gasoline and food services being open for business.

Welcome to the site.  Gas availiblity is worse in the North East sections of Jersey.  I was up that way on Saturday but it may have improved as more stations get power.  Also, Nothern New Jersey counties have odd-even gas rationing.

I drive to work on that stretch of rt 17 so I should be able to give you a report later in the week.

I am not currently able to go to work because I can't get gas in my home area of Bridgewater.

Hey, I'm in Branchburg.  The Valero on the north side of 202  by Thirsty's had a really short line this morning.  I passed it at around 8:30 and again around 9:15, right in the midst of rush hour and there was maybe 20-30 cars tops.

There were never really any lines in the Manahawkin area.  There were some further north in Brick, but not anymore.

everything seems to have calmed down as far as lines around me.  some stations still closed without gas but all the major stations were open and very minimal lines.

Johnnie,

Gas situation in Northern NJ is still not good, so depending on your car's m/p/g, I would try and be full, as you get close to NNJ.

The gas situation in Ocean County seems OK as of now.

Good luck and safe journey. t^
