Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show CANCELLED
HARRISBURG (AP) — The organizer of a large outdoors show in Harrisburg is postponing it indefinitely after its ban on assault weapons triggered a backlash and boycott.
Reed Exhibitions posted a notice Thursday on the website of the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, saying there is an “emotionally charged atmosphere” that would make it impossible to hold an event “designed to provide family enjoyment.”
The nine-day show in the Farm Show Complex had been scheduled to start Feb. 2. Many of the vendors had announced they were pulling out.
An email sent to ticket-buyers promises refunds and says the process will be posted on its website.

The organizers banned the sale and display of assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.
Reed says the show is postponed “for now,” but isn’t elaborating

Score One for the The Gun Law people. fcp
May I recomend removing any Decals, Bumpper Stickers, that are gun related from your Car. or waht ever, some years ago at a Skeet Shoot at Fort Dix another shooter approched me and asked why did I have all the Decals related to shooting and Guns on my car. Including a very Large N.R.A. decal. His reasoning was why advertise that you may have Fire Arms in your car. As I stripped them all never to be put Back on.
Now a coward might Key your Car in protest.
Unrelated event again some years ago off union beach west end a Kayaker pissed off some shore fishermem. He had a tee shirt with a logo on it So They went looking for his car and found it at The Creek One with a decal That had KFS.COM logo on it, they then removed all the Lug nuts from all 4 wheels in protest. When you have any ID decals on your Vehicals or person you become a ambasador for That decal. Use your own judgement. Bill

In their mind they will consider it a victory as it is one less gun show that was put on. In reality, it was an OUTDOORS show, not a gun show, but they won't let facts get in the way of their agenda.

I don't see it that way. I see it as business' standing up for the 2nd ammendment.
On a side note, was just in one of the local gunshops here looking at a handgun to buy my wife. Next to nothing on the shelves. According to the sales lady..."Obama, the greatest gun salesman of all time." Ironic isn't it? pcrn

Sales of guns and ammo have skyrocketed lately. t^

I was one of thousands of people who last week received an email from the show I attend every year, often with friends and family.
The email from the promoters who are from the U.K decided they were going to eliminate a whole wing of firearms from the show to include any magazines holding more than ten rounds.
Many, of the vendors, many citizens emailed them immediately and asked them not to do the bidding of anti Second Amendment leftist's who are on a campaign to register all firearms and eventually to outlaw them once registered.
The response was no comment decision had been made.
Well Cabelas Lancaster Archery along with over 250 other vendors, outdoor celebrities all withdrew from the show at great expense to them.
Lee and Tiffany Lakowski who are major draws for the venue along with many other big name speakers wrote a very strong letter to the U.K group and it was ignored.
Over a hundred fishing and hunting guides did the same at considerable loss to the income and money already laid out for advertising, travel an hotels.
Thousands of regular Joe's like me were ignored and in the end the Reed U.K Group cancelled the show.
The venue produces close to 100 Million in revenue for all involved, majority being the Reed Group.
Some disagree with what the citizens did in response to the agenda based initiative by the Reed Group, and there are valid points to be made, mostly the loss of income to hundreds of Guides Outfitters Charter Boat Captains and many retail sporting outfits.
IMHO- I was very proud to see thousands of sportsmen and women stand up for the Constitution of our country which is under heavy assault by a monopolized media and political elite. They did that at considerable personal expense to themselves and their businesses.
They took a stand on principal, that principal is the Right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Many thousand now are placing orders with these companies, there is a list available on the web of the 250 entities that stood for us.
Many are using the time during the show to go to Cabelas and other such companies.
I am very proud of what started as a grass roots conversation on the web ended up showing those who would foster, perpetuate or support such relinquishing of our freedoms will not be supported by us.
Very proud indeed.

As a person that shoots competetivly ( IPSC and 3 Gun) it was a breath of fresh air seeing a company like Cabelas stand up for what they, and I believe in.

whs
there are many blogs on inidividuals who are going to go out of there way to shop/buy/etc. at those vendors that pulled out of the show.
I go back to when a certain company :-X pulled guns from there shelves after the school tragedy. That didn't sit well with me at all.

went to the range again last weekend. went to pick up some ammo at a local gun shop. Limited to two boxes 9mm, one box 357 mag, and two boxes of 38 special. There shelves were more than half empty and they were rationing sales. More people in that shop on a sunday morning than I have ever seen combined in two years I've been going there.
