Title: ULTRA MINNOW MOLD
Post by: Tom Ciuba on February 22, 2013, 03:42:14 PM
HI- NEW MEMBER HERE. Was wondering if anyone knows hot to make the 5-6& 8 OZ ultra minnow with a smaller than a 9/0 hook which is what the mold calls for. The 9/0 seems too big for fluke. Any ideas??? Or maybe 9/0 is the right size. Any feedback will be appreciated,THANKS Tom

You could also tie on a smaller stinger hook

I also use the 8/0 hooks. The fluke has a huge mouth so there would be no problem with one inhaling a larger hook. Besides, with the larger spros I have found that most of the hits come on the teaser that is 18" above the spro.

Did you guys dremmel the mold at all to get the eye on the 8/0 to sit right?
Picked this mold up a few months ago but have only poured a few for swing hooks. I have stainless wire that is the perfect size that I form to fit in the mold.
But as mentioned , assist hooks and a huge strip bait is what I plan on doing with the spro grub up top.

I did not have to modify the 5 thru 8oz mold to fit the 8/0 hooks....fit like a champ  t^
