Title: NJ Fishing & Boating Weather Outlook: Week Edition May 13-17, 2013

The first half of the week through Wednesday Evening will be dry with seasonal high temperatures in the 60's however overnight lows will be unseasonably cold into the 30's and 40's.  Some areas, especially inland and Northwestern NJ could see frost Advisories continued overnight through Tuesday.  With the passing warm front, rain/thunderstorms are possible Wednesday Night through Friday with unseasonably warm temperatures in the upper 70's into the low 80's and lows back into the 50's.  Depending on the timing of a cold front any rain chances should clear out by Friday Night into Saturday.  Water conditions are rated good all week for all locations except for Wednesday into Thursday, there is a possibility of Small Craft Advisories.  Water temperatures for bays and rivers are in the lower to mid 60's with ocean waters inshore in the mid to upper 50's with midshore to offshore waters in the low 50's.  Surf conditions will be normal for the week in the 0-2, 1-2 foot range except for Friday could see some 2-3 foot waves and winds will be predominantly out of the west all week.

Depending on the timing of the cold front, the weekend is looking dry with mid to upper 70's and good water conditions.  Water conditions could become cautious with the passing front seeing gusty winds, higher seas and SCA's.

High pressure over the central portion of the US will build eastward through midweek.  A strong warm front will then cross the region on  Wednesday.  A cold front will then move through on Friday or Saturday.

The NWS PHI & NYC have issued Freeze Warnings for Sussex and Passaic Counties during the overnight hours, specifically between the hours of 2AM - 8AM.  These warnings are being issued because of growing seasons.  It is unlikely that any crops will be affected during the short time period freezing temperatures are possible, however temperature sensitive plants should be covered or brought indoors.

The NWS PHI has issued Small Craft Advisories from Sandy Hook to Fenwick Island, DE for all ocean waters and the Delaware Bay.

Frost Advisories have now been issued for Warren, Morris, Hunterdon, Somerset, Ocean, Cumberland, Atlantic & Burlington Counties from 2AM-8AM.

Weather fronts changed up a bit this week...some sped up, while others slowed down.  There is a chance of isolated or scattered showers today followed by the chance of isolated and/or scattered showers/thunderstorms later this afternoon into the evening.  Highs up into the 70's today.  The cold overnight lows are gone for now and shouldn't drop out of the 50's the rest of the week.  Tomorrow through Saturday is looking dry with just a slight chance of isolated showers/thunderstorms.  Tomorrow will see highs into the 80's and 70's on Friday and Saturday.  Sunday will see another chance of showers.

There are currently Small Craft Advisories posted for all adjacent ocean waters to the 20nm line, from Sandy Hook through Delaware including the lowest portion of Delaware Bay.  A strong southerly flow will continue through tonight at 15-20 knots with gusts to 30 knots with seas 2-4 feet at 3-4 seconds (moderate chop from short period wind waves).  Tonight winds will switch to the west and then north and begin to subside.  SCA's could be extended through tomorrow.

I looked ahead to see what Sat is doing... we are 'supposed' to go out fishing. (  :-\ fingers crossed) and it's looking to be decent, however I will wait for my OFFICAL report from you.  ;D

There is a stalled out front right across the middle of the state stretching from NJ across the central and  into the northern US all the way out to almost the West Coast.  This is bringing the increased chance of rain today.  There could be some isolated and scattered showers/thunderstorms today with highs in the upper 70's to low 80's.  Some places are already seeing some brief showers and thunderstorms this morning, with some heavier rains in these tiny thunderstorm cells.  This should all be completely cleared out by late afternoon/evening, although if it gets as warm as forecasted, that could bring some increased chances later today as well.
