Try the flats in belford behind the grey town houses

When I got there the water was calm and no fish were breaking top. Paddled out till I fialy got into some deeper water 9.5 feet I was tired from paddling out so far. Caught couple blues, some short stripers. Twice I had run offs, I was using bunker chunks and when I started to real in gone. Looked at the leader ,was using old metal leaders with the hooks already crimped to them, the leader broke, did it two more times. Through them back in the garbage.
One of the cool things I did see today was a blue fish swimming near the surface and when they went after the bunker they turned sideways, I could see this a clear as day cfzd.
I was also able to hook a fluke, this guy thought he was a monster the way he hit the bucktail, pink gulp....
I did have to deal with a bunch of IDIOTS ON WAVE RUNNERS. Told auxilary coastguard. Top it off the wind kicked up and I started two take waves over the bow of the kayak, so it was time for me to come in. That was my trip,
I am on vacation the first two weeks of July, the wife asked what are we doing told her I was going kayak fishing, word to the wise lie to her next time and tell her we will do things together
I will be back out again soon.
Bigal, is ther a place for me to launch my kayak from around that area, better yet how about a street name near it. I will google earth the location. I

clp Nice report! Its always fun when you get a solid hit and it ends up being a fluke. Was he a keeper? Ya think its a huge robin till you get it to the top! Cool visual on the blue too! t^ I agree with the wave runners. Not all are bad, and I have seen a few that follow the rules, but most of the time they are reckless and never look around before they do anything. Very dangerous. But like I said I have seen some that do follow the rules. I keep my distance, but they always want to come real close to the boat. I don't get it. When you took a few waves, was it from them or the wind? It did kick up a lil mid afternoon. Yesterday in RB I'd say round 2ish there were quite a few out there and even more launching at the Sea Warren Ramp.

the wind is what made the waves come over the front of the kayak. problem was i had to paddle into the wind to get back to where i was. did manage to paddle sideways with the waves for a bit. but when you are on top of the wave and then at the bottom of it and the next one is right there it comes over.
was fun i did get to see how well it handles in the rough water. rough water i can handle paddling a barge in the wind fngr.
I am looking at the weather report to see when i can get out again, can't wait..... clp
The fluke was a little guy but dont tell him that.... grtn

;D Glad you are safe and made it through all that. That gave me that feeling in my stomach with the ups and down and all. :P Guess being a yaker you guys are used to it.

Try fishing just past the Sailboats in Keyport on a weekday. You can see schools of blues finning the surface. Toss a plastic topwater with a single hook . It's sight casting for blues. Tons of fun. Then when your tired drift for Fluke in the same area. t^

Thank you for the info.
Do you know the depth of the water by chance. just want to make sure i am in the correct area.
so far by Leonardo i have been out on high tide and been in 9.5 feet of water, then at low it is down to 3.5 in spots. damn i felt like standing up a couple of times.
Thanks for the spot.

Dale.... Great to hear your having fun with your Yak....That entire area is loaded with fish....Like I'm sure you have found your fishing in shallow water most of the time.
All the years of fishing that area....I don't think I have fished waters more then 8 feet....Have fun my friend enjoy.

You defiantly can say i am having fun, hell I'm having a blast.
When i am on vacation i think i will head down toward IBSP and see what i can find out there. if i am lucky Paul will be off one or two days to show me the are so i can get a better idea where the parking lots are that everyone mentions. Google earth is my greatest tool on locations.
One day during the week i will head toward the back waters to see what i am missing.
oh the other day asked if i am hooked.
yea.
Naming the yak I'm Hooked...
Thanks Dave for sharing,

Dalejam,
In Keyport you Really don't have to pass the 3 buoy. Water depth varies from 3' to 9' by the sailboats. Maybe 12' at high tide by the 3 buoy. Many Kayaks around too.
-
Just one question? Where is buoy 3 5hrug
A little more pinpointing if you can I will look up google earth to see if it shows it.
Thanks

Hey Dale, When are you on vacation? We are off next week and we are definitely going out and hunt the sedge islands for sure.

So it looks like i will be going out on saturday as long as the weather holds up. 5hrug
I will be going out looking for some of these Big Stripers t^, I waould like to catch a big one of the kayak and have a picture of it. So if the water is Murky brown or green will the stripers still go after chaunks, I have not masterd the standing up in kayak to throw cast net yet.So i use chunks.
Anyone else Kayak fishing this weekend ?

So I went out on Saturday around 12:00 noon.
ran into some blues. the wind kicked up so I anchored for a bit. brought my brother with me and set him up on the beach, he managed two catch two blues, but released prior to landing. he was happy he finally caught a blue.
a couple of short fluke, but I was visited by a bunch of MORONS again on wave runners. is it just a rule when you sit on them you become stupid.
I think it is time to find a new place to go fishing or just don't go out on weekends.
I did not go to keyport area because I had my brother, I had no idea what it would look like, should have gone down by the spy-house.
enjoy,
Dale
