WE ARE A COUPLE OF GUYS WITH PLENTY OF GEAR, THE RIGHT TACKLE, THE RIGHT BAIT, LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT SPOTS(SOUTHERN OCEAN COUNTY) TO ACTUALLY FIND SOME FISH. PREFERRED SPECIES ARE WEAKFISH, STRIPERS, BLUEFISH. WE NEED HELP! WE CATCH PLENTY OF DOGFISH IN THE SURF, AND HAVE HAD OUR FILL OF BABY SNAPPERS IN THE BAY. ALSO LOOKING FOR INFO ON FISHING THE OYSTER CREEK OUTFLOW CHANNEL ON THE BRIDGE. WE'VE SEEN BIG DRUM, WEAKFISH, AND STRIPERS CAUGHT THERE RECENTLY, BUT CANT SEEM TO CATCH THEM OURSELVES. HELP!

The story of fishing this year is ... its all from boats. That is sad but has held true. Hopefully, that will change soon as I love to fish the surf. I am predicting a mid-month movement of baitfish. What we need is the surf to cool more. The rivers and bay are still 76 degs. F. If we can get the right water temp with the outflow of bait, it could be magic. If not, the guys from the shore may have problems.
As for Oyster Creek, I fish it from the bayside by boat. There is some (not much) access from the Rt. 9 area. That water is too warm right now, IMO.
The weakfish, again, are throughout the bay. The theme again ... best fishing is by boat at dusk.
The surf guys will have too wait a bit in my opinion, except for the occassional bluefish blitz.
What I would do is get to the Barnegat Inlet and work the rocks for albies and blackfish, especially on the IBSP side.

Welcome Aboard.
Like Capt. Ed mentioned it is all from the boats so far.
I am an avid surf fisherman and this year has been tettible unless you are into bluefish. Don't get me wrong if bluefish are the only thing running great, its still catching.
I was at IBSP Tues. and caught zip. the wind was out of the west at about 20 and the current was to strong to hold 6 oz's . I tried the jetty and the current at that time was outgoing and to swift.
If you go back by the sedge island you might be able to pick through and get a weakfish or two.
To get past the dogfish try topwater plugs. This time of year I use them about 80% of the time.

thank you very much for your reply. i thought that access to IBSP for surf anglers was restricted to off road vehicles only, of wich i do not have. i fish barnegat inlet religiously, and had great success there eraly in the summer with herring, but since, just small blues. i guess i'll just have to wait for the fall striper run

Access to IBSP is not buggy only. You can walk on. There are two bathing beaches where you can park and walk to the water. There are also other parking areas along the road where you can park and take a short walk to the beach.
To fish the inlet jetties you would need a buggy as it is a very long walk.
