Title: Jetty, back bays suggestion

Hello all hope everyone is having a good season so far. I'm looking for suggestions on a jetty back bays setup. I currently have a custom 9' my grandfather made and a st croix  10'6 mojo. I'm looking for something a little smaller for jetty, pier, back bays  setup. I'm was looking at a tica 8' surge with a shimano stradic ci4 4000 however some friends have spoke about tica's exploding so that kinda scared me. I'm looking at a st croix 8' triumph surf however it is medium vs  vs the tica medium heavy.

I'm pretty much sold on the reel but it sits pretty small on a 9' medium heavy .

Any suggestions ?

Any Rod will explode if used the wrong way.  I have used Tica's for years and never had a problem with them at all.  I use an 8' Tica with a Penn Slammer and have tons of fun off the North Jetty at BI.  But now that the jetty is a mess It is not a problem getting fish landed.  I would suggest making a long gaff for the catching of fish at the jetties.

Just to let you know my uncle snapped his rod at the north jetty last year and that was due to trying to pull a big blue over the rocks.  The rod was a St. Croix.

Whatever feels more comfortable to your touch.  I like a medium off the beach or jetties.  Reason being I feel like I get a better feel of the lure or plug while it is swimming.  That is just me though.

For back bays I have a 6' daiwa rod with matching reel filled with 16lb mono with medium action. Its light enough that little 6" porgies put a nice bend in it but I've also caught stripers on it up to around 24". I think its perfect for back bay fishing.

I ended up getting a 8ft st croix triumph surf with a 4000 c4i shimano  and I love it
