Title: NJ Fishing & Boating Weather Outlook: Week Edition Jun 17-21, 2013

It looks like this won't be such a bad week for weather and water conditions, right now.  This week will start off dry during the day Monday with scattered showers and thunderstorms moving in Monday Night, Tuesday and Tuesday Night.  Dry conditions will return again for Wednesday through Friday.  Highs will vary from mid 80's to upper 70's this week with overnight lows varying from the mid 60's to upper 50's.  Water conditions look good for all locations all week except for Wednesday.  Wednesday could bring Small Craft Advisories especially for areas from Barnegat Inlet South and all Midshore to Offshore locations.  Water temperatures are holding with rivers and bays in the upper 60's and 70's, while inshore northern waters and midshore to offshore waters are in the lower 60's and inshore southern waters are in mid to upper 60's.  Surf conditions looks normal except for Wednesday conditions could become moderate. 

Low pressure will track from the Great Lakes into Southeastern Canada into Monday.  A weak cold front associated with it will settle in our area Sunday Night into early Monday.  A secondary cold front should then arrive Tuesday with a weak low pressure system forming along it.  High pressure will then build into the area on Wednesday and Thursday before shifting to our east Friday into Saturday.

The weekend looks good right now.  Dry conditions with more sun than clouds and highs into the low to mid 80's.  Water and surf conditions look good too for all locations.  Hope this holds true as the weekend nears.

There is an Invest in the Caribbean which should only affect Central America and Mexico if it becomes anything more than a low.  There is a chance of severe weather across central portions of the US this week, too, but very small areas with very low chances.

So far skies are clear and sunny...looks like a great day today ;D!  That should continue throughout the day.  There are some scattered showers to our south and west, but they should miss us today.  Highs in the mid 80's on average across the state with more humid air today.  Lows only into the mid 60's tonight.  Water conditions looks good still with SW 5-10 knots winds and seas 2 feet at 7 seconds.  Southern areas may see a little gustier winds up to 12-15 knots and seas to 3 feet at 7 seconds.  Currently conditions are around 5-7 knots with seas 3-4 feet at 8 seconds.  Surf conditions will be normal with Low conditions and low risk of rip currents.  UV Index Very High at 8/10.

There are some scattered and isolated thunderstorms popping up across the state.  Some have been strong to severe.  These will continue into the overnight.

There is a very low threat of Severe Weather tonight into Tuesday.  The main threat is from scattered or isolated thunderstorms with damaging winds and hail for most of NJ.  Again, this is a very low risk, however there have already been some isolated severe thunderstorms that have caused tree damage, power outages, 1 inch hail, dangerous lightning and heavy rains.

Clouds are covering most of the state with some sun occasionally shining through.  This will be the way the day will go with showers and thunderstorms possible all day today.  Some thunderstorms could be strong to severe with a 5% risk of damaging winds.  Thunderstorms could also bring heavy rains and dangerous lightning.  Rains could cause some minor flooding and flash flooding conditions.  Highs will make it into the upper 70's and lower 80's inland while slightly cooler along/on the water and in northwestern NJ.  The air is very humid in the upper 70%'s with dewpoints in the upper 60's and 70's.  There is a lot of moisture in the air.  Lows will only get down into the mid 60's tonight with high humidities again.

Water conditions are good for all locations with a Inshore S/SW wind 5-10 knots increasing to 10-15 knots this afternoon and seas 2 feet at 11 seconds.  Offshore winds SW 10-15 knots all day with seas 4 feet at 6 seconds.  Surf conditions are normal Low conditions with a Low Risk of rip currents.  Wave heights are around 3 feet with SW winds 5-10 knots.  UV Index Very High 8/10.  Conditions could deteriorate during the night with winds to 25 knots and seas 3-5 feet causing Small Craft Advisories.  Surf conditions could increase to Moderate during the night as well.

Tomorrow looks like a chance of rain carrying over from tonight into the morning/afternoon and possibly some winds in excess of 20 knots and seas 3-5 feet causing possible Small Craft Advisories for the morning to afternoon hours.  It looks like this will clear out by mid-afternoon or so.  Surf conditions may be elevated some tomorrow as well.

I'm in Union, much further up, and it looks like somethings creeeeping in.  :-\ I'm looking verrrrry forward to the weekend Matt  msfsh I was grounded due to a procedure I had on my back for days and I can't wait to get back out! I'm going to try and fish both days if I can AND a part of Friday too if I'm lucky!  :P  I'll be looking for your weekend report to post soon! (I hope)  slt

For anyone still up...the bulk of the rain has moved out and the low along the frontal boundary will be pushing off to our southeast.  There is still a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening.  NJ saw anywhere from 1-3 inches of rain so far.  Here in Toms River I had 2.07 inches with 1 inch of that falling in an hour and another 0.75 inches falling in during the second hour.  There is still a Flash Flood Warning for Northwestern NJ.

Tomorrow looks like it will be mostly dry and cloudy with upper 70's and some drier air.  Possible SCA conditions from now into the afternoon tomorrow, but it is going to be borderline with just around 20 knot winds and seas to 4 feet at 7 seconds.  These conditions, if present will subside by afternoon.  Surf conditions look good too.  High Pressure will move in sometime tomorrow and dominate through the weekend hopefully, with good water and surf conditions for all locations.

It is dry across the state this morning with areas of clouds and sun.  Today will be a transition day from unsettled weather to high pressure moving in and taking over.  It will stay dry today with more sun than clouds.  Temperatures will get into the mid to high 70's with lows in the lower 50's and much drier air.  The cold front has not completely crossed the state so areas in Southern Ocean County stretching across to Southeastern Salem County still have moist, humid air.  That will change by this afternoon as the cold front moves southeast.  Water conditions are good for all locations, with no SCA's.  Conditions this morning may be bordering on SCA criteria with some gusty NNE winds pushing 20 knots or so and seas 4 feet at 7 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore has NNE winds to 20 knots and seas to 5 feet at 4 seconds.  As the day progresses these conditions will improve.  Surf conditions are normal wave heights, however they are Moderate with a moderate risk for rip currents.  NE winds at 8-12 knots, wave heights 3 feet and UV Index Very High 8/10.

The rest of the week looks nice, so far.  Weather looks nice, with upper 70's to low 80's and dry air until the weekend.  Water and surf conditions are looking good, too.  The rest of the week forecast appears unchanged.  I will compare and make sure everything is matching up.  I think this is the weather break we have all been waiting for and hope it holds out through to next week.  The weekend looks good too so far with maybe a lower chance of showers for Saturday Night?

Another nice day today...started off cooler today in the mid to upper 50's with 70%-80% humidity, but is quickly warming up into the 70's with humidity down into the 50%-70% now.  Today will be dry and sunny with an occasional cloud, but not too many.  Humidity should be lower, maybe not as low as yesterday, but close.  Temperatures will get into the upper 70's to low 80's inland being slightly cooler along/on the water and in northern NJ.  Overnight lows will get back into the mid 50's again for a cooler night and start to tomorrow.  Water conditions look good today across the boards with light SW winds to 10 knots max and seas at 2 feet at 8 seconds.  Surf is normal with Low conditions and low risk of rip currents today with S/SW wind 5-10 knots and wave heights 2-3 feet.  UV Index Very High at 9/10.

Still looking good for Friday and the weekend.  Not seeing any rain so far and good water and surf conditions.  I will have the complete Outlook coming up today.  I know many of you are anxiously waiting ;D.
