Just picked up a new Elite 7 HDI and in looking at the transducer installation they say you can install the transom mount as a shoot thru by epoxying it in the hull! I'm not going to do that but was curious if anybody has and how it performed. It's a great option if it works! Hull has to be glass no wood but that seemed to be the only obstacle.

I know of this option too but do not know of anyone that has used it.

Just installed the machine on the boat tonight! Did a dry run in the driveway and love how user friendly it is, great graphics lets see how it performs on the water. Be on the water Monday. I did end up using the transom mount.

I had a transducer epoxied for thru the hull use. Worked great but you have to make sure there are no bubbles in the epoxy as it will through your macnine into thinking that there is a void there and it can't read it.
But than again at high speeds a transom mount with all the bubbles from the hull will do the same if it is not done right as well. Slow speeds it is okay.

Paul thanks for the input! I just didn't feel confident without hearing from other people who have done it. I figure I can always epoxy it later but once I do I guess there's no turning back. It would be a better installation for me because I trailer and always worry about the transom mount! Thanks again
