Met up at the boat today with young gull and Mboy... Very nice to fish with you guys.. anytime, any place, any where... you guys are great to know and fish with...
All the peanuts you can ask for.. Went to a wreck on the mudbouy to find sea bass all day, drop and reel but mostly under sized.. headed to the rock... same action there.. drove the beach back to the hook and Mboy saw fish breaking.. all the blues you want to 10 lbs.. kept 1 for the table along with 7 keeper seabass,....
Fog, Fog and more fog... very dangerous out there today, driving and anchored..
Was it a bad day... HELL no... a day on the water, with new friends from this site... a cigar and good conversation made it all worth it...
-
Mboy had nothing but good things to say... glad to hear you had a good day t^ t^

Could not have had a better time or fished with a better group of guys.
Constant drop and reel action.
Nick threw 3 or 4 back before Young GUll and I even got into the water.
Took me a while to get my only keeper in the boat.
Nick was busting my chops about not having any in the box and while he was busting, boated my only keeper
I donated a lb or so of lead to the sticky bottom gods, Young Gull donated a box full of hooks.
Big blues were nice, jumping right out of the water.
I fished mainly gulp for the seabass as I was on opposite side of boat from cutting board.
GULP shrimp 3" new penny got bites on every drop. My keeper came on a little nub of the shrimp that remained on hook after the rest was bitten off.
VERY foggy (which got worse as morning progressed, even when sun was out (which was VERY strange).
Absolutely gorgeous boat!
Wish every trip could be as enjoyable as this.
Thanks again to Nick for taking us out.
Awesome day all around.

Irish, we chunked a bit, threw some jis, igged off bottomw, but no blues to be found there.
There was a fleet of Party Boats close by that looked to be bluefishing, but not sure how they did.
We say some blues being trolled at the rocks and then found ours about 1/4-1/2 mile north of Highlands bridge (ocean side) about 50-100 yds off of beach.

We did see party boats fishing for blues in the depth of the fog, but we didn't bring chum or a flat of bunkers, so we concentrated on the bottom.

Thanks for the info and report Nick. Sounds like you guys had a productive, enjoyable day. t^
-
Thanks for the report. I missed my fish window this morning so am living vicariously thru your reports. Sounds like you made the best of a foggy ??? day.
-
yeah, the fog never lifted... couldn't see a damm thing. As we were anchored over the clam beds, a few time we heard boats motoring towards us, and last minute after I was honking the horn, he finally stopped... And I mean CLOSE.. one a few boat lengths away. Even on the move, if it wasnt' for Youngs Gulls, bird like eyesite.. who knows what we would have hit...
-
:o
sounds scary
don't know how it was this morn but maybe better I missed my window...
my horn's crapped out... prolly a bad ground but have'nt checked it yet so I carry one o'dem canned air horns...bet that woulda woke hizzazz up.
Sounds like a shouldahadradar kinda day.
-
wb, I'd bet it's the diaphram in the horn that has crapped out. I have the two trumpet horns on my boat and have to replace them every third year or so since I've had the boat. They are great when they work...
Nick, that is my fear in the fog. I know my ability and have radar, etc, but I fear the other boaters out there. I have had the same happen when I was out several weeks ago, a boat motoring toward us, I could hear the motor and see the blip on the radar. I kept with the horn fog signal, he kept coming at us. I started my motor and was ready to give it juice to get out of the way if needed when I saw on the radar that he change his course. Super scary I tell ya.
