As I mentioned in my Rusty Krocodiles (http://njsaltwaterfisherman.com/forums/index.php?topic=32778.0) thread, I have several of these old, now discontinued, brass Krocodiles. By the way, thanks to everyone for your help in getting them cleaned up. t^
All of these Krocs are 4 oz. For the most part the 4 oz. is a good choice for most striper outings. However, if the drift is too fast, or the current is too swift, I will switch out the Krocs in favor of some heavier metal, such as a 5 oz. Crippled Herring or a 6 oz. AVA or butterfly style jig.
While I realize that there are knock-offs available in heavier weights now, I figured I would try to make one from the stock I had.
Here goes:
First, I took two 4 oz. Krocodiles

Cut off the hardware
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc015_zpsf28674ab.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc015_zpsf28674ab.jpg.html)
Soaked them in dishwashing liquid to get any dirt, grease and oil off of them
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc017_zps3d932cb9.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc017_zps3d932cb9.jpg.html)
Dried them and roughed them up with sandpaper
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc025_zps5273d0bd.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc025_zps5273d0bd.jpg.html)
Mixed the epoxy and spread it on the Krocs
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc032_zps54adb3cb.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc032_zps54adb3cb.jpg.html)
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc036_zpsd572535d.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc036_zpsd572535d.jpg.html)
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc037_zpsa873bc79.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc037_zpsa873bc79.jpg.html)
Pressed them together and let the epoxy cure for 24 hours
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc039_zpsc0b1b9d6.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc039_zpsc0b1b9d6.jpg.html)
Once hardened to full strength, I attached the oversized split rings
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc057_zps0b26c13f.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc057_zps0b26c13f.jpg.html)
Sanded off any excess epoxy
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc061_zps7a56b546.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc061_zps7a56b546.jpg.html)
Shined them up with some Brasso
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc069_zpsf1df3c67.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc069_zpsf1df3c67.jpg.html)
Added a swivel to the top and a Siwash hook to the rear
(http://i1358.photobucket.com/albums/q767/BobFate/Half_Pounder_Kroc074_zps34760a35.jpg) (http://s1358.photobucket.com/user/BobFate/media/Half_Pounder_Kroc074_zps34760a35.jpg.html)
The finished product. The 8 oz. "Half Pounder Kroc". Now it's time to see how the stripers like it. t^

Bob make a mold of that and ill pour them

I wouldn't know the first thing about making a mold. What would you make the lures out of if I could make one? Brass? :headscra:
-
Nice work Bob. t^
I have huge box of old lures that I inherited from the wife's Grandfather.
Mostly freshwater stuff.
I should send it down your way to clean up. ;D pawle

Nice Bob,
you could weld a barb to a hook with JB weld and it would never come apart...
my buddy used it on his brake caliper- yup brake caliper- and it never came apart.
don't try that at home....

Nice Bob!! clp I can actually see you taking the photo on one of the lures. ;D

Thanks Matt. I appreciate the compliment. But, I'm just a tinkerer - a little glue here, some prism tape there.
Dahlberg is an amazing innovator. He was also very close friends with Doug Hannon, who was one of the most inventive and smartest fisherman ever. t^

have you tried it yet and has it affected the action as its hard to beat a krocks action
-
I dropped it a couple of times. The action looks good, but I haven't really needed to jig with more than 3 or 4 oz. this fall. So I haven't used it that much.
