Title: WTB: Older Style Penn Slammer Rod
Post by: Bucktail on October 18, 2013, 10:34:35 PM
Hey guys,

I'm looking for an older model Penn Slammer rod (the white one).  Specifically, I need a conventional model, either 6'6" or 7', and rated for around 20-40 lb. line.  Foam grips only.  No stand up models with the slick butt and no roller guides.

I want to pair it up with an older Jigmaster 500.

If you have one you want to sell, I'll pay anywhere from $20 to $40 depending on the condition.

Thanks,
Bob

Bob, I  think I might actually have on the boat. I'll check next time I'm there.

I think I have one in the garage here in Lanoka harbor, is this for bunker spoons?

No.  I'm pairing it up with an old Jigmaster.  Mostly for nostalgia.  But it will also see use on party boats that don't allow braid.

Good idea Bob.  I have a Jigmaster 500s that my dad bought me in Herman's sporting goods in 1979.
I still use it and like the quick change function for the spool. I can spool up my extra spool with mono for the party boats. t^

Herman's...haven't heard that name in years ;D!

I think there is a mathematical formula for fishing equipment = N + 1 ...N is what you have and the + 1 is what you always need!! ;)

Thanks for looking Fred. t^

I'm going to suspend my search for now, unless I can find them cheap.  I stumbled upon a couple of new Tsunami 5 Star rods, which I picked up for $20 each.  They are not fancy, but they have pretty decent action and they'll work for what I need them for.

Bob I have the white Penn Slammer but in Spinning model, I used them up in NY for fishing for Salmon on the wall on the Oswego River.  t^
