I'm looking for a rod rack for my truck and came across this Portarod rack.
Seems like it would work out for me because it's easy in and out.
Any thoughts?

I like it! I'll be looking for one myself so if you get it let me know how it works out. I like the fact that it's easy to put in and remove for cleaning! clp

I don't see how it can't work. It appears to be the same type of product that truck drivers use to secure loads in the trailers. What a cool idea.

Would this work?
Install this (or something similar to it) bar
http://www.harborfreight.com/ratcheting-cargo-bar-96811.html
and put these (or ones similar to them) on the bar.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-Boat-Rail-Mount-Fishing-Rod-Pole-Holders-Adjustable-Clamp-On-7-8-1-Tube-/150779936912
Would be cheaper and you can configure it to your needs.

I know the cargo bar should work. It looks like the bottom of the tubes sit in the corner of the bed. I am worried about it turning as you drive and the rods working down and the tips hitting the tail gate. :headscra: I think I am going to order it and give it a try.

I have a Portarod and absolutely love it!!! It is definitely the best fishing rod holder on the market. I was going to make a homemade rod holder out of 2x4's and PVC and my wife bought me this. I can't thank her enough.

Great to hear thanks. I'm going to order it. t^

Probably a little late on this but just read thi thread....here's one from ebay and there's also one that goes on the tailgate of a truck in same price range, I use this one below. works well except for Surf rods which hang a little low ( I prop a small piece of PVC which gives them plenty of lift)

Here's the other one I saw:

Some more to look at. I have the bed rail mount and it has been good for the last two years.
