Title: NJ Fishing & Boating Weather Outlook Weekend Edition: Jan 4-5, 2014
Post by: Pfishingruven on January 03, 2014, 06:30:51 PM
After an interesting couple of days across the state, the first weekend of the new year will be no different.  Weather will be split, but water conditions are good through Sunday Night.  Saturday will bring sunny skies and average temperatures.  Sunday will bring cloudy skies and precipitation with above average highs and lows for this time of year.  Precipitation will be a mix of rain, wintry mix, freezing rain and snow depending on location and how and when the warmer air mixes in eventually turning to all rain for late Sunday Night, Monday Day.  This is just going to make a MESS on top of the snow already here and could lead to some flooding conditions!  Water conditions look to be good all weekend, deteriorating on Sunday Night through mid to late week with Small Craft Advisories being issued and Cautious to Hazardous conditions.  Surf and beach conditions look good to ok.  Be alert for any damage or changes from coastal flooding and beach erosion.  Surf heights topped 10-12 feet with the last storm and moderate coastal flooding was widespread throughout the Jersey Coast.  Surf will still be rougher with chances of some higher waves Saturday Morning, improving before deteriorating again on Sunday Night.  Water temperatures have dropped a few degrees again with rivers and bays in the upper 30’s to low 40’s, surf temperatures in the upper 30’s to low 40’s, inshore waters in the low to mid 40’s and offshore waters in the low 50’s.  UV Index will be Low a 0-2/15.

The Winter Storm/Nor’Easter will continue to move Northeast Friday Night.  High pressure will move east from the Ohio Valley and settle across the region on Saturday.  Once the high moves to the east on Sunday, another low pressure system and front will affect the area Monday and early Tuesday followed by more Arctic Air on Monday Night through early Wednesday.

Next week will start off wet on Monday followed by a cold front with more frigid, arctic air.  Highs and lows on Monday Night, Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the negative to teens with 10-15 degree wind chill values!  It looks to be dry from Monday  Night through the Wednesday Night.  Thursday will bring chances of more rain and snow before clearing out for Friday.  Thursday and Friday will also bring a return of average temperatures again.  Water conditions will be cautious to hazardous Monday through Wednesday, maybe improving for Thursday and Friday.  Surf and beach conditions will echo the water.

Title: Re: Freezing Rain/Wintry Mix Tonight
Post by: Pfishingruven on January 04, 2014, 05:18:57 PM
There is threat statewide for freezing rain tonight along with a wintry mix eventually turning to rain tomorrow.  The bulk of precipitation looks to start later tonight into the morning hours.  Be careful on all surfaces, even treated surfaces if freezing rain occurs!  Freezing Rain Advisories have been issued for
Northern and Western Counties.

Have a good Saturday Night and be safe!
