Well we were about 2 hours from Point Judith when Mike got the call from the Captain letting us know to stay home because thier new Boat was broken. Being more than halfway there we decided to show up anyway. We ended up booking a trip for next October for a 3 day trip.

We made the best of it and found a huge festival going on in Newport. The festival was right on the water with tons of food and alot of shops.

After the fun of the festival wore off and we were back at the Hotel Mike and I drowned our sorrows at the Bar and John slept off his dissapointment.  :(

Hi Hareball,

The canyon fishery is the best I have seen. There is life everywhere and bigger fish moving in.

There are also a ton of fish (bluefin) in the Mudhole/Glory Hole area.

Inshore, it is off the hook. There are big schools of bass (yes bass), blues, bonito and false albacore to target. I am taking the boat out tomorrow to burn some of the gas off and throw A27/47s a bit. They are up and gone the coast north and south of Manasquan Inlet. They look just out of range of the surfcasters. Maybe they will get a shot at them soon (come on NE or E wind).

Sorry surfcasters - this was the year you needed a boat so far.

Well anyway, that is a long way of saying ... try to get offshore!

We are gonna get out this Wednesday and target Mahi. Will also hit a spot for Weakies and Kingfish on the way out and give the Stripers a shot around Holgate. If nobody"s home we can always go for Sea Bass. t^

Sorry about the trip guys, but at least you made the best of a bad situation.  good Luck Next Year?  Wow, anticipation on that trip has got to su$#.

Ouch, that hurts to travel that far to be cancelled.  I guess you will have to make up for it next year and limit out and then some.
