started late to make sure weather ok,picked up a few live eels, had some salted clams from a previous trip, launched at Sayreville around 9,tried drifting eels in the river no success, headed out to open bay and tried anchoring, fishing clams and eels, nothing, started drifting reach channel with clams and eels, wham, pole bending, heart pumping, big dogfish.moved out of channel big freighter passing, positioned in channel again after freighter coming through, again another big dog fish.stayed in a long drift in the channel, then moved back into the river again, had some good markings at the dry dock, anchored and put our bait out,had a run off and someting on the eel that I dropped, then a chopped off eel, picked a few small blues and headed for home.hadn't been out in 2 weeks waiting for temperature to drop and here some positive reports, decided to get out and make our own report.first year fishing back bay so it's a learning experience.I think the water has to get colder, will try again next week maybe an evening trip.still a nice day and great to get out there.

That's a good go at it. You have to try for yourself. Who knows, you may be the one to break the ice and have fish all to yourself. t^

Great report and thanks for taking the time to post. I don't have a boat anymore but I enjoy going off by myself on the beach. Each time out it is a learning process.
Happy Catching
