what do you guys think of using 8 lb mono for fluke

That's ok to use. I personally use 30lb braid for Fluking.  The rule of thumb is to set your drag on the reel at 1/3 the breaking strength of the line. If your on a party boat and use light tackle it will take longer to land a fish and increase to chance of getting tangled with others.

i wouldnt use 8 lb test around rocks or from a party boat because any little nick or abrasion and your done, back bay or surf flukin can be a lot of fun on ultra light tackle though, personally i prefer 20 lb braid for ultra light flukin but mono is fine too

I wouldnt use 8lb test if your going to be on a boat or jigging

it will  be from an 18 footer im going out with a buddy of mine we will most likley be fishing the back bays and rivers might be too rough to go outside the inlet
