Title: Weakfish Report 10/23/07
Post by: wink_man on October 23, 2007, 08:48:40 PM
I fished the canal this morning and did zip, zero, not even a bite. Water clarity is back to normal, and the cabbage was way down, so conditions were very good. Went back for the afternoon tide, and I heard just before I got there that the bluefish made a showing, and a boat at the entrance of the canal got a bunch of them, but the blues left by the time I got there(thank you God). Did zip this afternoon also, not even a hit. I'm thinking maybe the wekies have moved out, I heard that there are a lot of weakies in the ocean around LBI, so perhaps they are starting to move south, don't know.

Anyways, an expert fisherman took over my spot this afternoon, he horned right in on me and didn't even ask. Then he had the nerve to sunbathe in my spot after he caught some fish. They don't usually let you get this close to them, so it surprised the hell out of me that he even stayed there while I fished and let me take pics.

Well, I won't be trying for any weakies tomorrow. My son called me while I was finishing up fishing this afternoon to let me know he shot a small doe with his bow. So I headed over to the woods to carry his stuff out so he could drag out the deer. On the way out, we actually saw a sparrow hawk nail a bird in flight and drop down on the trail with it, was really really neat(wish I could have gotten a pic). So I'll be butchering a deer tomorrow morning, have it packed in ice now with this warm weather. Maybe try for them the day after and see if they are still there.

Good report and nice pics.  Did that fishing expert share his catch with you for letting him share your spot?   TT^

My 2 EX wives would disagree vehemently with that statement, LMAO, but the kids must think I'm ok, because they chose to live with me.

Great pictures Gary,

I love to watch them on the Toms River where I live.  I cant believe how long they can stay submerged.

Happy Catching

Paul

Too bad about the fishing. Nice job with the deer. Hard to believe it's deer season with the weather.
