I can only say WOW at the size of this halibut. That is a fish of a lifetime for that angler.
HUGE halibut link (http://www.adn.com/article/20140707/no-world-record-482-pound-halibut-caught-southeast-alaska-jaw-dropper)
That halibut would eat our "doormat" fluke as a snack. TT^ cfzd
I heard a 1 oz white Spro jig was what he used. rofla

I have absolutely no use for the IGFA. They will allow a guy on a 60+' sport fisher sit in a bolted down chair, have someone steer the chair, have someone operate the boat to chase the hooked fish all over hell, all while the rod is strapped to the chair and deny the real fisherman the honor of having a world record because "the rod touched the gunnel", you used a gaff, etc.
I know if someone was to catch a fish that was larger than any previously caught, in my mind, that would be a world record fish. I don't really cares what the fools folks at IGFA think.
