what was the number of tuna caught
-
I think it was 23 and 2 mahi
-
I believe 23 is right AL. Here's a pic from above and I think they were still pulling from front cooler. Great time out with the crew from the board. Great food, and music of course!
-
Had a great time with a bunch of good friends.
The light rain for most of the night wasn't that bad with the calm sea. I think the worst we had was about 3 footers. I don't know what happened but after we pulled the hook and I hit the bunk for an hour the ocean turned a little nasty. Went top side to find 8-10 and u bet we had the occasional 14.
Thanks to Phil for designing and building me such a beautiful tuna rod. I was lucky enough to hook up and land a long fin with it. It did just what he said it would and was great. Thanks again Phil.
The gambler capt and crew were great, top notch operation and a great boat, I can't think of one thing I did not like about the boat and crew. I'll be back!
Thanks to all who made the trip.
Oh and for anyone who didn't know
Rain falls down ovrbt

Was a great time from start to finish! Crew was top notch and I am reserving my spot for next year RIGHT NOW!
Extra special thanks to Top Chef Trish for the time and effort putting out a great spread of food! clp
another to Paul-e......thanks again bro!
and also to Rick for setting it all up for us!
I have some pics to post but have to resize them up first....try to do that tonite as I will be at my sons soccer tourney all day today
-
Thanks Rick for putting this together!! chrz
Trish "Ms.Fish" msfsh Made enough food for everyone including the crew. Trays of Pulled Pork, Fried chicken, Meatballs and sausage, pork roll egg and cheese sandwiches, rolls, cakes, Brownies, cookies, Candy. Chips ,pretzels, etc.
We also had jars of Pepperoncini, sharp provolone, garlic stuffed olives. Great coffee and Funk music ;D
Captain Bob Bogan and crew were the best team I have ever fished with before. They were always close by to help us with anything we needed such as loading our gear, setting up the rods, baiting the hooks. Fishing tips and advise and keeping the vessel clean and accident free. Even the Captain worked the deck to assure we were comfortable and having a good experience.
I was fortunate to catch the first fish "Mahi" of the evening and get the party started after Capt.Bogan offered me a live eel to drift in to the slick. Soon after the Tuna came in flurries throughout the night and daybreak. The 10" Ronz lures worked great and the green glow, Pearl and black colors were hot. Everyone came home with plenty of fillets to share with family and friends.
The vessel is a beast and the motors are quiet. The Gambler handled the sporty ride home with ease and we were all comfortable. Plenty room on the deck for everyone too. Very clean
Im coming back next time and looking forward to out NJSWF TOG trip this winter chrz

This was an awesome trip. Especially for my 1st canyon experience. I finally got to meet some of you guys and it was a pleasure fishing with you. Capt and crew were top notch. Always there to help with tangles, baiting, rigging, and landing. I'll definitely be back next year (with 130's). Below are a couple vids I just post on youtube. One is of the blue shark and the other is of the 1st tuna.

Looks like you guys had a great trip. t^
The Gambler is a top notch boat.
I may have to consider net years trip.

Just a fantastic trip from start to finish...
If you had to write a script for an offshore trip this is what it would look like...
Glassy seas for the ride out covering the 100 miles in 5 hours...seas continue smooth though out the night, just a little light rain with multiple shots at long fin, yellow fin, sharks and some mahi in the mix. Seas will then build to 8 to 10s with some 12 and 14s sliding under the boat at times, just to make a exciting trip back home...
As most have already mentioned,
The Gamble did everything right for our trip,
Seldom do you find such a beast of a boat that can cover ground that fast and get you there with both speed and comfort the way she did and have such a capable Capt and Crew, definetly on top of the offshore game. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to go offshore on a party boat !!
Capt Bob found some nice warm water over some great structure and put us right on the fish providing action through out the entire night. The mates impressed me with their patience and how they delt with tangles, they got them out fast and were very reluctant to cut line and were always there when you needed them..
I was also impressed with how wide the isles were, making it so easy to pass another angler while working a fish, not to mention how big the cabin is. 23 guys plus all that gear and there seemed to be room for much more. A very quite boat while running as well.
Special thanks go out to:
Rick, this trip just doesn't happen without you and all your hard work... Super job buddy !!!!
Trish, thanks again for all your hard work with that impressive food spread !!! You spoil us all msfsh
Bob for getting that Ronzzzz order put together for us...not sure how many fish were caught with them but I would guess 5
Paule, thanks for official trip kick off at Farrells !!
And the Gambler for hosting our trip and working so hard to make it a successful one !!
Just put me on the list for 2015 Rick t^
-

Anyone have any video of the seas on the ride home?

Kenny may have some pics or video of ride back. I know one of the mates does because I turned the camera on his phone on for him because his hands were gunked up from cleaning fish.
It was wild for sure.

Anyone have any video of the seas on the ride home?
Wish I had from the upper deck bunks but we were taking cover. Watching the spray of waves wash over the top of the boat and the boat getting knocked side to side was pretty wild.

Thank you guys, for the positive report on the boat and crew. Sorry for the late reply. Just wanted to thank you all for coming out with us. Always a pleasure to fish with people who love their sport and fish hard. --What more can a captain and crew ask for.
And I'd like to think I learn something new every time I go fishing --and I was very interested in the Ron Z and live eels.
A special thanks to Rick for putting the trip together and to Patricia for the food and actually making sure I had a plate for the ride home.
Just to remind you all, you can come out on any of these trips; by yourself or with friends. Just a couple more dates availability left: Oct 22 and Oct 29th (36 hour) for anyone interested.
We were supposed to leave tomorrow but the weather has us again.
-
What an amazing trip with the with Nj saltwater fishing family. We couldn't have asked for a better Capt'n and crew. The Capt did a great job of putting us on the meat and the mates did a amazing job of gaffing and untangling lines so we could get the meat in the boat. Was able to cross a Mahi off my fishing bucket list. And got beat up by some beautiful big yellowfin I couldn't ask for a better Trip!!
-
I just wanted to jump in and say it was really great seeing all you guys! I know it's been a while and it's been a real pain since work cut off access here, but I still consider this place like home and the people here are top notch. Felt like a day hadn't gone by seeing you all out there. Captain Bogan and his crew were absolute pros. The best I've personally ever seen. I had an absolute blast and can't wait for the next one!
-
Just realized I posted some pics the other day, but really nothing else. So, here goes...
First, a huge thank you to Rick for once again doing a terrific job of organizing and running the trip! Thank you also for helping me out and putting up with my many off again/on again statuses throughout the past couple of months leading up to the trip. Glad I ended up as "ON" again! slt
Of course, thanks to Rod for fostering an environment here at NJSWF that brought together such a great community of people. t^ And thanks for letting me rig your rods. ::) ;D
Another thank you to Trish for all the delicious the food, food and more food! thud
Carl and others, thanks for the compliments. I've got a long way to go, but I'm at least heading in the right direction. TT^
It was great fishing with many of you again, and with some of you for the first time. Any fishing trip is a good time with the good people of NJSWF! grtn
As already mentioned, Capt. Bob and crew were nothing short of fantastic. As I wrote in an email to him, not only did he put us on the fish, but he and his crew went out of their way to make us all feel welcome. Sometimes on trips like this, I've noticed a tendency for the crew to talk down to the customers. Not this crew! Every crew member did a great job of treating both the novices and more seasoned anglers with the utmost respect and professionalism.
And it all starts with the captain. Kudos to Captain Bob for fostering an environment that allows this kind of excellent service to happen. slt
Lastly, RONZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! ;D
Can't wait till the next trip!
