Like I mentioned in a previous post, I moved up to New Hampshire back in August. I was a little upset that I was going to miss September and October saltwater fishing in New Jersey, my favorite time of the year to fish, but I've done okay up here. Haven't hit the saltwater up here, but I've fished this same lake a couple times over the past month or so. Today I fished nightcrawlers for about 2 hours. I caught about a dozen perch or so ranging from baby 4-5 inches up to a couple nice 9-10 inch fish. Had fun with them and I can't wait to fish here some more.

Terrific Gymrat! Those perch are such pretty fish and good fighters on the light tackle. Might be some smallmouth prowling around in those waters with those perch too. t^

Have had perch ,hit a Rapala imitation perch ,that was bigger than the fish hitting it .Good fighters and very tasty .You'll know that you have the fever for NH ,when you start to think about owning a ice shanty .

Salty,
I had a similar experience fishing in New Hampshire some years ago. I was catching smallmouth on gitzits and twister tails, when I came to an area I thought would be perfect for a crankbait. So, I tied on a perch pattern DT6 and immediately stopped catching smallmouth and started catching perch on almost every cast. Cannibals! ;D

NHSWF in the future, Rod??

Thanks everyone. I am definitely not looking forward to the winter. I'm told that it regularly gets to -10 degrees or so around here. That would be a new record for me. Ice fishing has been something on my to do list for years now. I have just never had the chance to get around to it. Hopefully this year will be the year. There should be an extra two months of good ice here compared to Jersey. I've heard that the lakes freeze over in December and don't thaw out until April. It's going to be a cold winter. And about the perch, I remember years ago I found a picture online of a perch hitting a perch lure. The picture looked so cool that I had to save it. It's been saved on my computer since 1/10/10 and it's finally being put to good use. Here it is.
