Global Fishing Watch is the product of a technology partnership between SkyTruth, Oceana, and Google that is designed to show all of the trackable fishing activity in the ocean. This interactive web tool – currently in prototype stage – is being built to enable anyone to visualize the global fishing fleet in space and time. Global Fishing Watch will reveal the intensity of fishing effort around the world, one of the stressors contributing to the precipitous decline of our fisheries.

Doesn't appear to me that the US and coastal waters is getting much action in the video. So my next question is,why are we so restricted as shore anglers??
While I don't disagree with the mentioned intent of this device and it's potential for observing fishing pressure in the vast oceans, I am concerned with it's potential for misinterpretation and misuse to further control the Angler instead of the real problem or cause. (IMHO)
But I'm sure Ill be attacked and miss interpreted anyway. So be it.
