Title: Did you know ???
Post by: Kenny on December 09, 2014, 05:11:22 PM
PVDF is used for specialty monofilament fishing lines, sold as fluorocarbon replacements for nylon monofilament.

Optical density is lower than nylon, which makes the line less discernible.

The surface is harder, so it is more resistant to abrasion and sharp fish teeth. It is also denser than nylon, making it sink faster.

Fluorocarbon fishing line is made of the fluoropolymer PVDF and it is valued for its refractive index, which is similar to that of water, making it less visible to fish.

Fluorocarbon is also a denser material, and therefore, is not nearly as buoyant as monofilament.

Anglers often utilize fluorocarbon when they need their baits to stay closer to the bottom without the use of heavy sinkers.

PVDF- or Poly Vinyl Lidene Flouride isa a chemical compound that consists of 2 carbon, 2 hydrogen, and 2 flourine molecules. It is a "normal" or n- butyl functional group.

Which pretty much means it sinks fast, and is real strong  ;D

Flouro, that's what I call it. All I know is that it costs more, helps me catch more fish, and I march to the beat of a different drummer from the band playing in my head and I feel like getting .....  chrz
